Today the Cool Up programme and Royal Scientific Society الجمعيّة العلميّة الملكيّة have organised an interim meeting for the National Cooling Action Plan in Jordan. I had a great pleasure to be present here in person and witness Jordan's proactive approach towards sustainable cooling regulations, reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship. 🌱 In my presentation I emphasized the importance of implementing a national F-gas regulation, drawing parallels with the successful EU model. Jordan is advanced and dedicated to adopting robust cooling regulations, and the enthusiasm from today's audience was truly inspiring. 🤝 Excited to continue collaborating and supporting Jordan in its journey towards sustainable development! I am happy to share that I have been contracted by the company, Öko-Recherche, as senior expert. My focus will be technical issues in relation to the Cool Up program. I look forward for the new challenges.

The Cool Up consortium hosted a workshop with the participation of Dr. Ezzat Lewis Agaiby, Head of the National Ozone Unit, Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, and Eng. Ahmed Elkorashy, MBA (PM), National Consultant, NOU Egypt and UNIDO. The workshop provided a platform to reconnect, reflect on the first 3.5 years of the project, and discuss milestones planned for the second half of the Cool Up programme.   Dr. Ezzat Lewis emphasized the importance of policy frameworks like the National Cooling Action Plan (NCAP) to pave the way for a sustainable cooling transition in Egypt, noting that “The development of the NCAP requires a multi-level engagement and close coordination among policy, finance and industry sectors which Cool Up actively supports in close collaboration with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency. 📢 Egypt`s #NationalCoolingActionPlan (NCAP) got kicked-off by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) and the National Ozone Unit (NOU) in close collaboration with Cool Up. The kick-off event took place on 21 May in Cairo and has been organized by Cool Up`s consortium partners, the Integrated Development Group - IDG, in close collaboration with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), the National Ozone Unit (NOU) and Cool Up's regional partner the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), along with the UN Environment Programme and under the Cool Coalition framework supported by the Climate & Clean Air Coalition. 📃 The NCAP will provide a solution by aligning political will, leveraging national and international agendas, and setting actionable targets to ensure access to cooling while minimizing environmental impact and maximizing socioeconomic benefits. 💡 Over 50 representatives from policy, technology, industry, and finance sector discussed first steps in developing vision, mission, methodology, best practices, and benefits of the #NationalCoolingActionPlan in Egypt.
