What does #diversity mean to you? Last week Margot Daris started our "Diversity in Cycle Logitics" panel by asking me, Angela van der Kloof and Eileen Niehaus this question. Similar to other buzzwords, "diversity" became so fashionable lately, at least in my professional circle, that its original meaning is getting lost in various interpretations. Very often diversity is confused with female representation. Although, we still have to speak about female representation, diversity is a much broader area of exploration. There is still a lot to learn about it but we can all start with the "awareness of our own privileges" quoting Angela van der Kloof. It's been a pleasure to exchange and learn from my co-speakers about training, safety, and differences in cycling behavior based on socio-demographic factors. But what I really loved is the reaction of the audience and questions: ❔ How to engage more women in cycle logistics? ❔ How to make delivery cyclists with migration background feel safe at work? ❔ What are the recommendations to motivate more people to cycle? 🙌 Thank you Jos Sluijsmans and Tom Parr for pushing for diversity in the International Cargo Bike Festival.

Where do you meet cargobike enthusiasts, designers and active users from all over the world? At the iconic International Cargo Bike Festival! ✨ It is always a pleasure and a fun to exchange with designers, manufacturers, cyclists, policy makers and supporters of this growing international community. 🫶 This year was a little bit more special for us as some of our clients that we've met at the ICBF last year came to say hello and cheer us up! It is so heart-warming to hear their stories and learn about trips they've made with the eTrailer. 💐 One of our clients, a family-owned flower shop in Esloo, gave us flowers to decorate our stand! 👉 ICBF is also one of a few events in the cycling industry that pays attention to diversity and inclusion. The 4-women panel spoke about socio-demographic aspect in cycling behaviour, gender difference in cycling training, and representation of delivery cyclists. 👏 Special thanks to the amazing organisers working tirelessly behind the scene, Jos Sluijsmans and Tom Parr, and WLDRF for the ingenious musical performance!

I've been recently asked on camera what communication means for me. Now after intense 3 weeks of traveling Hamburg - San Francisco - London - Amsterdam, I'd like to adjust my answer. We all know how important communication is, and while there are many tricks, rules and definitions of it, I've started understanding the depth and its endless possibilities during Emerson Collective #Dial Fellowship. For me, #communication is about understanding who you truly are and being able to convey this inner understanding to the outer world. As founders and CEOs we strive for innovation, originality and creativity. However a simple understanding of our own values will help finding our authentic voices, creating powerful messaging and meaningful brands as well as amplifying any form of story telling. I am endlessly grateful to the Emerson Collective Dial Team for this highly reflective, enlightening and transformative year. 🗒 Patrick, Kevin, I will be using and reusing the script you wrote for me ✉ Megan and Naomi, you forever changed the email communication for my comms team 💡 Marcy for opening doors to so many media experts and partners 🍵 Abby for a year of coaching and deep dive in comms and of course Laurene Powell Jobs, founder and president of Emerson Collective, for making all this possible. Did you know that working women make on average more trips during their daily commutes than working men? The behaviour of having several trips between two location points is called trip chaining and has been widely researched in the past decades. 🚴♂️ The BAFA Funding is back and the NÜWIEL eTrailer is qualified for up to €3.500 costs reimbursement!⚡️ The Bundesamt für Wirtschaft und Ausfuhrkontrolle (BAFA) offers a 25% reimbursement (up to 3.500 EUR!) of the purchasing cost for e-cargo bikes and e-cargo trailers. 👉 With this funding, BAFA promotes the transition to sustainable mobility and the reduction of CO₂ emissions in transport. It is aimed at private companies, and public institutions including universities that want to integrate cargo cycles in their mobility strategies. The NÜWIEL eTrailer is the first bicycle trailer with an electric drive and zero-force sensor technology that makes it possible for anyone to move heavy and bulky goods in a sustainable, safe and effort-free way.
