“𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲” is the urgent demand of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”. 🏙 Biochar can tackle this challenge and many other important measures needed to protect our planet and #climate. We want to save the #climate by carbonizing biogenic residues. 🌏 How do we do this? The technology we use is called pyrolysis or Biochar Carbon Removal, #BCR. It is a thermal carbonization process that pyrolyzes biomass under high temperatures, without any oxygen. Thus, the carbon that has been absorbed by the plant through photosynthesis is converted into a solid substance that can be easily and permanently stored: #biochar. We exclusively use sustainable biomass that we aim to collect in under 100 km radius of our facility. In addition to biochar, we produce renewable energy or #greenheat that can be supplied in the form of process steam and hot or warm water. Our Carbon Removal Park Baltic Sea alone allows us to remove about 3,200 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere every year. This storage capacity will increase rapidly in the coming months and years: our goal is to scale and thus accelerate #carbonremoval as much as possible.

🚜 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting State Secretary Claudia Müller of the Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft at our #CarbonRemovalPark Baltic Sea in Grevesmühlen. Our team demonstrated our production facilities, and our CEO, Caspar, explained our biochar applications and their benefits for soil health and carbon sequestration: 👩🌾 #Biochar has the potential to create a powerful, permanent carbon sink in the agricultural sector. When introduced into agricultural soil, biochar promotes humus formation, reduces greenhouse gas emissions #GHG emissions such as nitrous oxide, and improves water retention. As a feed additive, it enhances animal welfare and reduces GHG emissions in livestock farming. 🙌 We would like to thank State Secretary Müller for her visit and her interest in our mission. Novocarbos Net-Zero-Lösung heißt Biochar Carbon Removal. Durch Pyrolyse verarbeiten wir pflanzliche Reststoffe zu Pflanzenkohle. So speichern wir CO₂ aus der Atmosphäre dauerhaft und nutzen den Kohlenstoff für nachhaltige Produkte: als Bodenverbesserer in der Landwirtschaft oder als Zusatzstoff für Beton. Die entstehende Überschussenergie wird als klimaneutrale Wärme genutzt. ✳ Was braucht CDR in Deutschland gerade am dringendsten? CDR ist eine Klimatechnologie mit enormem wirtschaftlichem Potential für Deutschland. Der Aufbau einer Net-Zero-Infrastruktur ist jedoch auch kapitalintensiv. Um die CDR-Industrie zu skalieren, bedarf es neben klaren politischen Zielen für Negativemissionen auch staatliche Maßnahmen, die private und öffentliche Finanzierung ermöglichen. ✳ Warum ist Novocarbo dem DVNE beigetreten? Die CO₂-Entnahme aus der Atmosphäre ist ein öffentliches Gut. Wir brauchen eine offene Diskussion darüber, wie wir CDR einsetzen und nachhaltig fördern möchten. Politik, Zivilgesellschaft und Wirtschaft müssen zusammenarbeiten, um unsere Netto-Null-Ziele zu erreichen. Blue-green infrastructure projects can significantly mitigate these impacts, with #biochar playing a crucial role in #urbangreening initiatives. 🌳 The benefits of biochar in blue-green infrastructures are extensive: increased evaporation and cooling, enhanced plant health, greater biodiversity, improved water storage, and reduced stormwater runoff. Moreover, recent scientific findings reveal that biochar can also help reduce water pollution in cities. 🚀 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆. The latest Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE) study reveals the vital role that Carbon Dioxide Removal (#CDR) plays in neutralizing residual, hard-to-abate emissions, such as those from the cement industry, aligning with all pathways defined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for 1.5°C and below 2°C global warming above reference temperatures. Projections indicate that CDR technologies could be worth €470-940 billion annually by 2050. Yet nascent CDR methods like Biochar Carbon Removal (#BCR) or Enhanced Rock Weathering (#ERW) could contribute significantly to this growth. Driven by technological advancements and stronger decarbonization commitments, CDR is set to become a cornerstone of global climate change mitigation efforts. Worldwide the need for #renewable #heat is growing - here's why our state-of-the-art pyrolysis technology is a promising solution. 🪨🔥 In a pyrolysis process not only #biochar is produced, it also generates regenerative, climate-neutral surplus energy. We offer this #greenheat to companies or municipal utilities in the form of Heat as a Service partnerships. This means that we take care of designing the right heating solution, building the pyrolysis plant, and continuously operating and feeding the energy into the existing heating network. We can provide the heat as hot water, warm water, or process steam. Probably the biggest barrier companies face in making the switch to #carbonneutral energy is the large capital investment that must be made. Our Heat as a Service solution allows businesses to access renewable heat without having to make the initial investment. This aspect is also highlighted by the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development: "Decarbonizing heat through a Heat as a Service partnership is a great way to reduce dependence on gas".
