📖 The new report by the nova-Institut GmbH highlights the importance of transitioning to #alternativenaphtha in refineries and crackers to advance the chemical industry's #decarbonisation. Replacing fossil-based feedstocks with renewable carbon from sources like CO2, biomass, and recycling is pivotal for achieving #netzero goals and reducing reliance on traditional resources such as crude oil. This shift presents a significant opportunity for sustainable practices and environmental impact reduction in the industry. ♻ The report delves into essential #basechemicals, such as #aromatics and #olefins, highlighting the need for renewable carbon-based replacements. By leveraging existing infrastructure and innovative technologies, the chemical industry can transition towards more sustainable production methods. The use of #renewablecarbon alternatives derived from sources like CO2, biomass, and recycling can pave the way for a greener future in chemical manufacturing. 🛢 One notable approach mentioned in the report is the use of refined vegetable oil for #bionaphtha production. With the global capacity for hydrotreated vegetable oil output on the rise, there is a growing opportunity to replace fossil-based naphtha with #biobased alternatives. Processes like HVO and Hefa offer a sustainable solution for producing bio-based diesel and aviation fuel while reducing the industry's carbon footprint. This signifies a promising step towards achieving a more sustainable and eco-friendly chemical industry. 💡 With detailed insights, the report sheds light on the growth of alternative naphtha sources, production routes, industry partnerships, and the regulatory landscape, providing a comprehensive view for industry stakeholders. Certainly worth a read when you have a moment! Green Future Search Limited #napthatechnologies #biobasedfeedstock #circulareconomy #netzero

🚀 Carbon Capture and Utilisation – More than a carbon removal technology! 🚀 New Factsheet by the #WaterProofProject A milestone for the enforcement of CCU was reached on 28 June 2024 when the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament published the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) in their Official Journal. The act finally acknowledges CO₂ utilisation as an eligible strategic net zero technology, hereby providing an official reference and foundation to support and encourage the deployment of clean technology, such as CCU throughout Europe. With a current capacity of over 1.5 million tonnes for CO₂-based products and steadily growing demand, CCU technologies are helping to establish CO₂ as a renewable carbon feedstock highlighting the urgency of investment and innovation in this field. Learn more about products derived from CO₂, global capacities for CCU and policies supporting CCU on European level in the latest factsheet by the #WaterProofProject. The WaterProof project aims to develop a technology that with the help of electrochemistry can transform captured CO₂ from wastewater treatment and waste incineration facilities into formic acid. This formic acid will then be tested in applications like fish leather tanning, cleaning detergents and the creation of ADES. To learn more about the project, visit https://lnkd.in/e7M3rMCd.
