NeoCarbon kann #CO2 durch #DirectAirCapture (DAC) in einen wertvollen Rohstoff umwandeln. Damit hilft NeoCarbon der chemischen Industrie sogar, das Ziel der Netto-Null-Emissionen zu erreichen. Denn CO2 dient als Basis für chemische Produktionsprozesse wie die Herstellung von #Methanol oder Harnstoff. Diese werden unter anderem als Treibstoff oder Düngemittel verwendet, ihre Herstellung ist jedoch sehr energieintensiv. Die #DAC-Module von NeoCarbon nutzen industrielle #Abwärme aus der chemischen Produktion als Energiequelle. Durch die Nutzung des abgetrennten CO2 als Rohstoff können chemische Herstellungsprozesse kohlenstoffneutral gestaltet werden. Damit die #Chemieindustrie ihre Dekarbonisierungsziele erreichen kann, sind maßgeschneiderte Lösungen wie die von NeoCarbon ein wichtiger Schritt. News from our factory: Our new #chemistrylab is up and running! This is where some of the magic happens, as the lab facilitates the #synthesis of the #CO2 capture sorbents we use in our #DAC module. With the new lab, our product team can further improve the CO2 removal performance of our in-house synthesised sorbents by chemically characterising them using advanced analytical equipment. The well-ventilated wet chemistry lab is equipped with high-throughput screening, synthesis and optimisation equipment. This allows us to test and refine our sorbents to ensure they are as effective as possible at withdrawing CO2. We look forward to sharing more updates on our progress!

Atmosphärische CO2-Entfernung ist keine Science-Fiction mehr. Bereits jetzt wird Direct Air Capture (#DAC) in der Praxis angewendet. Zum Beispiel hat NeoCarbon kürzlich eine Pilotanlage angeschlossen und ist damit eines der ersten Unternehmen weltweit, das ein Projekt zur direkten #Luftabscheidung in der Praxis umgesetzt hat. Bisher ist ein Haupthindernis für die Einführung von #DAC der hohe Energiebedarf. Durch die Nutzung von Niedertemperatur-Abwärmeströmen, die in allen Industriezweigen - von der #Chemie über #Glas und #Papier bis hin zum #Zement - allgegenwärtig sind, lässt sich Direct Air Capture (DAC) wirtschaftlicher und ressourcenschonender betreiben. Die Nutzung der #Abwärme ist ein entscheidender Faktor dafür, dass DAC heute eine praktische und skalierbare Lösung darstellt. Hierbei können Unternehmen einfach ihre Abwärmeströme mit DAC-Modulen nachrüsten. Die Technologie kann von jedem Unternehmen genutzt werden, das Abwärme in einem Temperaturbereich von 28 bis 150 °C erzeugt. There is an increasing focus on driving demand for #CarbonDioxideRemoval (#CDR) technologies! With climate change rapidly accelerating, the urgency to scale up CDR solutions has never been greater. An analysis by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) suggests that between 6 and 10 gigatonnes per year of residual CO2 are likely to remain globally by 2050, particularly in the industrial sector. This means that the path to achieving net-zero climate targets is not only to reduce emissions, but also to actively remove residual #CO2 from the atmosphere. Our mission to deploy our large-scale #DirectAirCapture (#DAC) technology, which uses waste heat as an energy source to capture CO2 from the air for permanent storage or industrial use, fits perfectly. A recent report by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) highlights the role of governments in stimulating demand for #CCS - technologies that could be considered a public good - through direct and indirect regulatory mechanisms such as carbon pricing and financial incentives to drive their adoption on a global scale. It also highlights the need for industry to integrate CDR into their sustainability strategies. CO₂-Staubsauger im Berliner #Supermarkt Berlinerinnen und Berliner können bald beim Einkaufen das Klima schützen. In einem Pilotprojekt wird ein Supermarkt der Immobilien-Investmentgruppe Greenman zum CO₂-Staubsauger. Dafür filtert NeoCarbon mit seiner Direct Air Capturing (#DAC)-Technologie CO₂ aus der Luft, indem es die #Abwärme von Klimaanlagen und Kühlschränken nutzt. NeoCarbon's Direct Air Capture (#DAC) machine live in action. Our CTO Silvain Toromanoff and our Partnership Manager Daniël Besselink visited the #NeoCarbon pilot installation. Together with the customer, we discussed the progress made and the next steps to be taken. The picture shows the module where the #wasteheat from the industrial site is integrated as an #energy source. The DAC module already captures CO2 autonomously from ambient air. It is very exciting to see this project up and running and we are looking forward to seeing more of the upcoming projects come to life.

A recap of NeoCarbon @ Free Electrons Program in Madrid - the leading conference bringing together the most promising start-ups and major utility companies. Our CEO René Haas and Head of R&D Dr Andrew Shamu were able to join leading utilities from around the world to discuss cutting edge solutions and help shape the future of energy - including Sustainable Alternative Fuels And Carbon Management (#carbonremoval). It was interesting to meet with many of the world's largest energy companies to discuss how Direct Air Capture (#DAC) can help achieve #NetZero.

Researchers from the University of Oxford are calling for government policies to quadruple the #carboncapture industry by 2050! In their report, The State of Carbon Dioxide Removal (Edition 2), they suggest that in addition to reducing emissions, 7 to 9 billion tonnes of CO2 will need to be removed from the atmosphere by 2050 to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. Recent findings highlight the need to combine nature-based measures like reforestation (currently less than 0.1% of CO2 removed) with Direct Air Capture (#DAC) to significantly reduce emissions. The captured CO2 can then be permanently stored, for example in cement, making industrial processes more sustainable and carbon negative. At #NeoCarbon we have developed a DAC technology which is scalable and more cost effective through the use of waste heat as an energy source for #CO2capture.
