Iterate. Iterate. Iterate. Take a break! It's a wrap! The turbine is back up, pretty, shiny and... woody! Right on time for a summer break! This week, the MuWind 1kW prototype received its new machine housing, spinner, together with 3 magnificent blades in #naturalfibers. They are a significant improvement versus the previous version: #corrosionprotection, #accessibility, #assembly, #costs... In September, we'll be implementing the next iteration on the #controller (new #actuators, #algorithm). So stay tuned. We also have a busy calender with projects with the Hochschule Bochum - Bochum University of Applied Sciences and the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, a terrific event planned by the Mobilfunkinfrastrukturgesellschaft mbH (MIG), 2 days at the Hamburg Windmesse and the MAKE Ostwürttemberg! But until then, we're taking a break to recharge the batteries (pun intended 😉).

What makes the MuWind 1kW so special?!? This is the question some followers raised in the last weeks. And that's a great question! Thank you for asking! Here are (in a nutshell) the #USPs that differentiates the MuWind 1kW. 1) Adapted for low windspeeds The MuWind has the largest rotor for a 1kW turbine (4.4m diameter). This enables to capture x6 to x7 more #windenergy and increase the #powergeneration compared to other (smaller) 1kW. 2) Blades in #naturalfibers Beyond their amazing looks, these blades are extremely #sustainable and bring several properties adapted for small wind turbines. 3) Simple deployment The MuWind 1kW (incl. its mast) can be #transported in a station-wagon car (or a pickup truck) and errected without the need for a crane. This is specially welcome in #remoteplaces. 4) Easy to repair The MuWind 1kW is being homologated (#IEC61400-2) for a life of 15y. But afterwards, we want to make sure our turbines still work by making them extremely #easytorepair. For this, 99% of the parts are normed or standard. Now... And it's a wrap! Yesterday, Sebastien pitched MuWind in 3min at the Energie-Pokalfinal (and then gave a 1min #TechSlam about #windenergy) organized by fokus.energie e.V. and the AXEL - Der Energie-Accelerator at the MAFINEX Technologiezentrum in Mannheim! We reached 3-4th position together with I3DEnergy, against hydrop systems (tackling #watermanagement challenges) and Varmo (who designed a terrific heat flow sensor). But beyond the #competition, it was a great event to meet actors of the #energytransition, such as the Green Industry Cluster or the Fairantwortung gAG. It is terrific being part of this vibrant #community, tackling such wicked problems together!

5min deep dive! Last week, we were given 5min to give a deep-dive into our product and market to 3 members of a jury! This was organized by the AXEL - Der Energie-Accelerator and is the 1st step of a fierce #competition ;-) For MuWind, this was the opportunity to receive feedback from energy experts who come with a #cleaneye to the event. Feedback on our #Product. Our #BusinessModel. Our #MarketResearch. In the infrastructure business, this type of events is critical to be confronted to the reality and reach #ProductMarketFit in an efficient way! A huge thank you to our Jury, Anika Haensel, Dr. Silas Aslan and Hilmar F. John for their feedback. And a special recognition to the Stadtwerke Karlsruhe, IHK and fokus.energie e.V. for their contribution to the industrial network and the development of young companies!

🔥 Warming up for the #KongressBW organized by >SMART> GREEN ACCELERATOR and EWS Elektrizitätswerke Schönau eG   😎 This week, MuWind attended a Warm-up session of the Kick-Start Green Innovation (KIGI) Program.   💪 This program, supported by the Umwelttechnik BW brings Startups together in order to tackle energy challenges.   ♻ In this session, we exchanged about how we can assess and reduce our product/service's footprint, through a lifecycle evaluation. We also got a briefing on the tool "Green Check Your Idea" (see 1st comment).   🏆 The main takeaways are:   🎯 1. Start simple: You need a model that can be used for 1st estimations and on which you can build up. 🔁 2. Craddle to craddle or Craddle to grave: You have to start at the material extraction, and finish at recycling/discarding. 🥇 3. Prioritize: Which levers have the biggest impact, which levers can you better activate. ♻ 4. Iterate, iterate, iterate.   This approach has been central to MuWind's product strategy:   Bamboo blades, no polymers, limitted number of materials, regional manufacturing for all the steal parts, standard components, 15y lifetime, easy repair...   😎 Are we stopping there? Last week, we joined the Wissensfabrik - dein Startup-Netzwerk speed-coaching. The purpose was to match established companies with startups, in 30min #speedcoaching sessions. This event was terrific! We had the chance to get first-hand experience about: #OpenInnovation #LicencingModels #CorporateVentureCapitalism (or #CVC) The fast-paced format was very interesting: after a pitch-elevator, startups presented the challenge they face. Every minute was worth the time! A huge thank you to the Wissensfabrik for the flawless organization, AXEL - Der Energie-Accelerator for getting us the exposure, and to the KSB Company, BASF and Chemovator. Their contribution to the #Startup ecosystem and participation to this event are key to the thriving #industrial environment!

Drop test in preparation! ✅ At MuWind, we're no strangers to product validation. These activities have been an integral part of our design procedure, and a full commitment you wouldn't get from anyone else. 📖 Most homologated products follow the norm IEC61400-2, which defines how a small wind turbine must be tested. 🤓 We know the rules, and so should you! These include: 🤖 #simulations 📉 #materialtesting 👩🔬 #laboratorytesting 🏕 #fieldtesting and covers #fatigue, #extreme damages, #corrosion... 🚀 But we are going further! 🥇 For this, we are performing the very 1st full scale drop test in the wind energy business (video in the comments). 🍀 We are on a Roll, wish us good luck !
