Training day at MTU in Munich 💡 • How does an engine work? • What career opportunities does MTU offer? • What do I have to consider when applying for an apprenticeship at MTU? These and many other questions were answered for around 550 visitors at the Training Day in Munich last weekend. While visitors were able to try their hand at making a key ring in the industrial mechanics workshop, dual students and IT trainees talked about their internships and experiences at MTU. The mechatronic workshop with its modern equipment attracted students and parents, while our electroplating colleagues demonstrated the diversity of the surface coating profession in the training workshop. Supporting forward thinkers! MTU is proud to present the Wolfgang Heilmann Award to young scientists every year. The prize is endowed with 1,500 euros and is awarded annually by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrt - Lilienthal-Oberth e.V. (DGLR) to promote young scientists who will shape the future with innovative and sustainable solutions. The prize is sponsored by MTU Aero Engines. This year's winner is Marco Göbel. The 27-year-old, who studied mechanical engineering at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), received the award for his master's thesis on "Numerical investigation of cyclone cooling configurations with axial guide vanes for swirl generation". Innovation and sustainability go hand-in-hand! Robert Habeck (Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action) visited MTU in Munich today and discussed sustainable aviation and military expertise with our executives and works council. We pulled out all the stops and showed him around our PW110G-JM and TP400-D6 assembly lines, as well as took him to the Flying Fuel Cell™ stack test cell with its hydrogen infrastructure and the military test cell for the EJ200 Eurofighter engine. But it doesn't stop there: climate-neutral production facilities also play a big role in reducing emissions across our industry. Which is why we are investing in geothermal energy at our site in Munich. At MTU, we believe in the expertise of our people, the power of our technology and our “roll up our sleeves mindset.” As an industrial company, we not only want to make our contribution to society, but we also want to set a positive example. Chances are, nearly everyone has flown on an aircraft with CFM56 engines! CFM56 engines power more than 14,650 commercial and military aircraft across more than 650 operators and have accumulated over 1 billion flight hours. Moreover, the engine program turns 50 this year! It remains a popular workhorse on the Boeing 737NG aircraft as well as a dual source option for the A320 family. MTU Maintenance has been carrying out shop visits for the various sub-variants since the year 2000 and currently supports -7B engines at its facility in Berlin-Brandenburg and -7B and -5Bs in Zhuhai. We also provide customers with on-site services worldwide for this engine type and carry out accessory repairs at MTU Maintenance Canada. Small but mighty! The Gulfstream G400 business jet, powered by two PW812GA engines took to the skies in its maiden test flight in August. Presented publically for the first time in October 2021, the jet is slated for entry into service in early 2026. Each PW812GA engine provides around 11,000 pounds of thrust and we are proud to contribute the front block of the high-pressure compressor as well as the low-pressure turbine. In fact, MTU has a program share of 15 percent in the PW800 program. This engine family not only powers this new 12-seater business jet, but also the larger "sisters" G500 and G600, with the PW814/815 engine models, and the Falcon 6X. #WeAreEngineExperts #PW800

🎉 The roof is on at our newest site in Jinwan, China! Construction of MTU Maintenance Zhuhai Co., Ltd. Jinwan Branch started in 2021, and the test cell went into operation on June 2023. This recent celebration marked the "roof closing" of the main facility buildings which will make up the heart of our second site in the Pearl Delta Region. Jinwan is expected to be completed in early 2025, will focus on maintaining PW1100G-JM engines and ramp up to a capacity of 260 shop visits until 2030. ✈️ #MTUMaintenance #JinwanFacility #MRO #Aviation #Milestone
