According to the IEA, global #electricity generation will increase by 76% by 2050. Gas peaker plants will play a critical role in supporting electricity demand and in #stabilizing our grid system as we transition to intermittent renewable energy sources like #solar and #wind.  Peaker plants must now evolve to accommodate a grid that is adapting to the variability of renewable energy sources. In recent weeks the #EU has made huge strides in creating the conditions for the European #hydrogen market to scale. Common internal market rules 📋 are now in place for #renewable and low-carbon #gases and #hydrogen, reforming the existing EU gas legislation. The new #rules will help make the shift to #renewable and low-carbon #gases in the #energy system, utilizing existing natural gas #infrastructure, and building new #pipelines to facilitate #hydrogen #ecosystems.
