Behind the scenes, our team thrives thanks to the support of our working students and interns. Recently, students from Meo Carbon Solutions and our sister companies—4C Services, GRAS - Global Risk Assessment Services, ClimatePal and ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification—came together for our annual student event. This gathering is a cornerstone of our commitment to nurture every member of our team and foster a collaborative environment. The event gave the opportunity for our students to gain a deeper understanding of all five sister companies and network with each other. They explored potential thesis topics and career opportunities—showing them how they can align their academic pursuits with real-world applications in environmental and social sustainability. Our senior project manager and team lead for the Climate Strategy & Carbon Market pillar, Claudia Bulgheroni, delivered a presentation on Meo Carbon Solutions projects and goals. Additionally, our senior project manager, Friedrich Schubert, shared his journey from a working student to a full-time employee. We're excited that Meo Carbon Solutions is leading a consortium—including our sister companies 4C Services (technical partner) and GRAS - Global Risk Assessment Services—for the Latin America Coffee Carbon Footprint Baseline Study. This groundbreaking project, led by Conservation International under the Sustainable Coffee Challenge, is part of the Latin America Coffee Carbon Footprint Baseline Study.   This collaboration aims to establish a comprehensive carbon footprint baseline for coffee production in Brazil, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico and Peru. We're excited to share an update from our HORTICERT project: project managers Markus Bockholt and Katrin Jaeger joined the first audits for coconut-based peat substitutes in India and Sri Lanka.   HORTICERT is an international certification system for environmentally friendly peat substitutes. Coconut-based peat substitutes (coir) use fibers and pith from the outer husk of the coconut in potting soil, offering a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional peat, which is often harvested from sensitive wetland ecosystems.   We look forward to continuing our support for sustainable practices in the hobby and professional horticulture industry.   Stay tuned for more updates!   #HORTICERT #Sustainability #CoirIndustry #PeatSubstitutes

Yesterday, the Meo Carbon Solutions team had the opportunity to meet in person with our partners from Welthungerhilfe (WHH) for our quarterly Food Security Standard (FSS) meeting. The day was filled with productive discussions as we reviewed our accomplishments from the past two years, laid out our strategy for the upcoming year and brainstormed innovative ways to deepen our partnership. Last week, at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Meo Carbon Solutions participated in a stakeholder workshop organized by CENA Hessen and the InnoFuels platform to discuss accelerating the market ramp-up of sustainable aviation fuels (#SAF). The discussions highlighted the importance of mobilizing research to speed up technology upscaling and approval processes, developing a financing system that ensures refinancing and creating stronger demand-side incentives for SAF usage. We also talked about the importance of "grandfathering" initial installations over a longer period and homogenizing sustainability, CO2 and electricity sourcing criteria on a global scale. We recently had the pleasure of hosting representatives from three prominent Japanese companies—Biomaterial in Tokyo (Bits), Marusumi Paper Company and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)—alongside our sister company, ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. The primary goal of our discussion was centered around the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (#CORSIA) certification, with a particular focus on the Japanese market. We delved into supporting new certifications, feedstock eligibility and the role of CORSIA-certified sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF) in the market. Additionally, the meeting aimed to strengthen relationships between our organizations. Our senior project manager, Julia Nevares, joined ISCC's Dario Formenti and Adam Kirby—ensuring a robust discussion on certification and sustainability on our side. We are proud to share that our project manager, Dr. Lea Eggemann, recently attended the 9th SCAPET Series—Circular Plastics Packaging South & Central America in Medellin, Colombia.   Dr. Eggemann presented on "Certification of the Supply Chain Integration of Circular Raw Materials," emphasizing the ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification PLUS system. This international certification scheme certifies bio-based and (bio-) circular feedstocks, enhancing transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain.   Key takeaways from the event include the growing interest in sustainability certification among companies.
