Rennteam Uni Stuttgart e.V. @ MAHLE Last week, an exciting event with the Formula Student Racing Team of the University of Stuttgart took place at MAHLE in Bad Cannstatt. Ahead of the actual competitions , this event provided a valuable opportunity to inspect the teams' race cars and business plans and receive direct feedback from our experts. We held intensive discussions about innovative solutions and forward-looking projects with talented technical and business students working in the field of e-mobility. Rolf Müller, Corporate Advanced Engineering Mechatronics and primarily responsible for the cooperation with FSG, sums it up: "We support Formula Student teams out of conviction. Leading a complex project, consisting of many individual disciplines, to success as a team in a defined period of time with limited resources - what better way to prepare the future career starters?" This challenge and its associated learning effect motivate us to promote young talents in this area. The event was not only a test run for the actual competition, but also an excellent opportunity to build new relationships and present MAHLE as an innovative employer. Green Team Twente becomes HyDriven Twente. The Formula Student Team from the Netherlands presents its new vehicle "Nebula". MAHLE has been involved in Formula Student from the very beginning. In addition to battery-powered racing cars, which have been part of the competition since 2010, the first teams are now pushing for fuel cell drives. Here MAHLE is again providing valuable support with its many years of experience with hydrogen. "We are in weekly contact with the team from Twente about the vehicle and the fuel cell," says Dr. Markus Auer, Head of Project House Fuel Cell at MAHLE, describing the collaboration. "We can give our Dutch fuel cell colleagues tips on the design of the entire vehicle, but also on energy management." Today is International Sunglasses Day, celebrating the protective shades that are also an essential accessory for our test engineers in the MAHLE climatic wind tunnel. In this world-class facility the entire vehicle’s performance and efficiency can be put to test under a variety of extreme conditions. With a solarium on the ceiling simulating strong solar radiation, our engineers sport shades to protect their eyes. The testing ground’s own fast-charging system makes it also possible to supercharge electric vehicles under this high solar load and extreme heat. At our Austrian site in St. Michael ob Bleiburg, we've embraced a natural circular cooling solution by using groundwater to cool our injection molding plant. This approach has allowed us to shut down refrigeration compressors and free coolers, saving 7.7 million kWh of electricity annually. Plus, it's quieter and eco-friendlier with reduced noise emissions.
