The #eIDAS community wishes Andrea Servida a well earned retirement. Andrea was initiating and leading the efforts to create the European regulation for electronic identification, authentication, and trust services. He served as the Head of the Unit "eGovernment and Trust" in Directorate General 'Communication networks, content and technology' (DG CONNECT) of the European Commission. The mission of the unit is to advance the quality and innovation of public administrations and accelerating the large-scale public sector and private sector use of trusted identification and trust services in the digital single market by leadership in the eGovernment agenda and in eIDAS. From 2012 to June 2016, he led the eIDAS Task Force in charge of the adoption and implementation of the eIDAS Regulation (EU) N°910/2014. Now in 2024 when the eIDAS community met in Crete for the eID and trust service forum organised by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) we had the chance to thank him for his work. I especially appreciate Andrea's willingness to have an open conversation with different stakeholders. Years ago I requested to have an interview with him for an academic study while still being a student. He took more than an hour of his time to provide me with his perspective. Andrea's deep commitment to fostering #collaboration across borders, both professionally and personally, has left an indelible mark on everyone who has had the privilege to work with him. Andrea’s vision has always been one step ahead, and his tireless efforts will continue to guide the future of secure digital identities long after his well-earned retirement. Thank you Andrea Servida. 🙌

To my knowledge 🇩🇪 is the first 🇪🇺 member state to publicly show a real implementation of using a notified #eIDAS scheme for deriving the government issued identity #PID into an wallet compliant with the #ARF standards. We are super proud to be part of this development as part of the SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen 🇩🇪📲 #EUDI #wallet challenge. We are now continuing with the next step - piloting the bank account opening use case in the Potential consortium.

Want to see what the future of #KYC processes for a user look like? Have a watch! As part of the first stage of the 🇩🇪📲 German EUDI-Wallet Challenge #SprinD we developed a prototype of the German EUDI-Wallet. We also demonstrated to the jury how an #EUDI-Wallet with the German #PID can be used for the KYC process to open a bank account. To recap, the PID, which stands for Person Identification Data and is the most important credential in the 🇪🇺📲 EUDI-Wallet. In this case derived from the German eID card, it contains all the personal attributes with which users can identify themselves and authenticate endless processes such as financial transactions. The PID is validated by the national PID provider. In our case the "Bundesdruckerei" is the responsible institution that validates the authenticity of the personal attributes and data. ❗ It is important to note that no actual personal data is sent to the Bundesdruckerei, only the certificates are validated. Once verified, the credential is added to the wallet 🪪 📲 and the user can start any identification process, such as opening a bank account for example, but have a look for yourself! ☝️If you are curious and want to learn more about the PID credential, its role in the EUDI-Wallet ecosystem and how it can benefit your organisation - have a look at our website! Fantastic news from 🇩🇪 #Germany: There will be a government #wallet as well as the opportunity for the private market to certify their 🇪🇺 📲 #EUDI #wallets. The Ministry of the Interior's press release explains that the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the Federal Agency for Leap Innovations (SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen) are already working on a government-issued 🇩🇪 📲 wallet. To ensure freedom of choice for citizens, a certification scheme for non-government wallet providers is being developed. SPRIND's public consultation process allows civil society and other interested stakeholders to provide ongoing input and feedback to this process. A big shout out from the whole Lissi GmbH team to the decision makers at the Ministry of the Interior in Germany. This "dual offer" was requested by the whole community and will now provide the German ecosystem with a fertile ground for further innovation. "Will the #Lissi Wallet be certified in Germany in the future?" you may ask. We don't know yet. But what we do know for sure is that our Connector API software will support all certified wallets, regardless of whether they are offered by the government or the private market. #eIDAS #EUDIWallet #identity #eID

Yesterday 300 experts met in Crete for the 🇪🇺 Trust Services and eID Forum 2024 to discuss #eIDAS trust services and the 🇪🇺 📲 #EUDI #Wallet. Here are my key takeaways ⬇ The Forum 2024 hosted by European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) provided valuable insights into the future of trust services, digital identity, and the transition towards the EUDI-Wallet. 🏛 ENISA’s role and future initiatives 🔷 20 Years of ENISA: Celebrating its two decades, ENISA was founded 20 years ago and continues to lead cybersecurity and trust services across Europe. 🔷 EUDI-Wallet Certification Scheme: ENISA will start developing the EUDI-Wallet certification scheme in 2025. A call for experts to participate in the working group is expected soon. 🔷 A Common Certification Goal: The aim is to create a unified certification framework for the EUDI-Wallet, which can be leveraged by the member states for their national schemes. 🇪🇺 📲 EUDI-Wallet Transformation Challenges 🔷 The transition from existing identity schemes to the EUDI-Wallet can present significant challenges for EU member states. 🔷 Phishing: Insights from Denmark’s eID scheme highlight that phishing attacks, aimed at financial gain, remain the biggest threat. 🔷 The key to prevention lies in strong user guidance, education and protection. The best hardware security is useless when users a tricked into handing over credentials to fraudsters. 🔷 A European Digital Identity Cooperation Group was launched, which will take over the tasks from the eIDAS expert group. 🔷 5 new implementing acts will be published in Nov '24. A third batch will follow May '25. ✅ Opportunities for QTSPs, Member States and the market: 🔷 Government representatives acknowledged the growing business potential for intermediaries in eIDAS2. That's good news for Lissi GmbH. 🔷 Increased cooperation among QTSPs: Cross-border interoperability requirements in eIDAS2 are pushing QTSPs to collaborate more closely, leveraging each other's strengths. 🔷 Regional differences: While trust service providers share common needs, their operating environments and service offerings vary across member states, resulting in a heterogenous landscape. 🌍 Global Impact and Trends 🔷 EU Model for Trust Services: The world is increasingly looking to the EU as a model for trust services, creating global opportunities for European trust service providers to expand beyond EU boarders. 🔷 With trust frameworks increasingly gaining traction globally, trust service providers are already entering markets in Africa, Asia and America. The current transition to the EUDI-Wallet and the development also creates a period of obscurity for many in the industry. There are varying opinions on where the industry will develop and when things are ready for prime-time. I remain optimistic that we will see 27 EUDI-Wallets by the end of 2026 😊 #DigitalIdentity #EUDIWallet #TrustServices #ENISA #Cybersecurity #Interoperability #QTSP

🔍 Exploring digital #identity with the 🇪🇺📲 #EUDI #Wallet: An innovation in progress ⬇ The digital landscape is evolving rapidly, and one of the key innovations is the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI-Wallet). The SPRIND EUDI-Wallet challenge has been an exciting initiative aimed at driving forward secure, user-friendly digital identity solutions. As #Lissi continues to be part of this initiative, we’re proud to be entering the second phase of the competition, which expands our focus on the issuance and management of credentials. The first phase of the SPRIND challenge concentrated on developing secure methods for issuing and presenting Person Identification Data (PID). Now, with the second phase, we’re building upon that foundation by piloting credential issuance use cases, particularly how they can support digital transformation across various sectors. Lissi’s connector #API software plays a crucial role here, enabling organisations to integrate seamlessly and pilot use cases with ease, supporting both issuance and verification processes using the EUDI-Wallet. At Lissi, our mission is to empower organisations to implement real-world use cases with the EUDI-Wallet. By providing the necessary tools for easy credential issuance and verification, we’re helping businesses simplify and secure their digital identity processes. Our focus is not on developing wallets, but rather on enabling organisations to harness the power of wallets for their specific use cases. 💡 What’s next? As we move into the second phase, wallet providers are joining the Potential consortium to provide their wallets for the different use cases. This collaboration enables organisations to begin piloting use cases through our connector software, accelerating their ability to bring digital identity solutions to market. 🌟 Our key takeaways:   ➡ It's a coopetition, not a competition. Multiple teams are working together in parallel, fostering collaboration while pushing innovation forward. ➡ Having multiple teams working in partnership on this topic is accelerating progress, getting things moving fast, and ensuring diverse perspectives are brought to the table. ➡ The EUDI-Wallet isn’t just about digitising identity—it’s about creating a secure, interoperable ecosystem that benefits all of society. Stay tuned for more updates on how Lissi and the other teams are helping to shape the future of digital identity in Europe!
