    A Once-in-a-Lifetime UEFA EURO 2024™ Experience Lucia, Sales Project Manager at Lidl Northern Ireland, has been with #teamlidl for 20 years. Last month, she had the opportunity to participate in the Lidl Kids Team program, taking her oldest daughter, Rosanna, as a mascot child for the UEFA EURO 2024™ Spain vs. Albania match in Düsseldorf. "When my colleague told me I had won, I was over the moon! Rosanna was also super excited." 🤩 There were a few other colleagues from Lidl Northern Ireland, along with their children, who were also selected for the Lidl Kids Team program. They had a welcome party to celebrate the win and journeyed together to Dublin and then to Germany. Upon their arrival in Düsseldorf, the parents and children were greeted with Lidl merchandise and fun activities. On the day of the match, while the children were taken to the stadium, the adults enjoyed a walking tour, soaking in the lively atmosphere of the city, filled with cheering fans. "Watching the match live was an entirely different experience from seeing it on TV. The stadium was alive with thousands of people, music, drumbeats, and enthusiastic cheers. Rosanna later told me that she felt both excited and nervous, but the soccer player who walked with her reassured her by patting her head." 🏟️✨ Lucia says the energy in the stadium was amazing, and she received messages from family, friends, and even Rosanna’s school as she appeared on TV. "I was overwhelmed with emotion seeing Rosanna in the stadium. The moment the children walked onto the pitch; the atmosphere was unbelievable. I was so proud of my daughter! When Rosanna returned, I gave her a little teddy bear, which made her very happy." 🧸 Lucia describes the entire experience with the Lidl Kids team as 'a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for both her and Rosanna.' "Rosanna still sings the songs we heard, and we watched every UEFA EURO 2024 game. It was a fantastic experience for our family.     Working at Lidl is dynamic and motivates you to grow as a person Marie, Trainee HR Digitalization at Lidl International, joined Lidl for a store management role after completing a dual degree in business administration. However, the training phase opened new doors and she joined the trainee program instead, leading her to specialize in HR digitalization.⭐ Currently working in HR document management and on strategic projects, Marie says she has had many opportunities at Lidl to work in different departments and gain a holistic perspective of Lidl's operations. As part of her trainee program, she has recently returned from a three-month work experience trip in Denmark and is now being trained in her new department. She says the program is very dynamic and she is always meeting new colleagues and taking on new tasks and responsibilities. Marie says she is a curious person by nature and the constant learning curve at Lidl is one of her favorite parts of the job. “Constantly meeting new teams and people is very exciting because I am gaining a lot of new experiences.” ❤️💙💛 Outside of work, Marie likes to lead a balanced lifestyle and pursues her passion for Fistball, playing in the first division.     A story of teamwork - Lidl-Trek celebrates its results Lidl-Trek has had extraordinary races at the Giro d'Italia Donne and Tour de France, showing strength, strategy and determination. Elisa's victory in the Giro d'Italia Donne 🚴♀️ Elisa Longo Borghini left no doubt about her dominance at the Giro d'Italia Donne, claiming the coveted Maglia Rosa as the general classification winner. Her journey to victory began with a commanding win in the Stage 1 time trial and she maintained her lead throughout the competition. Elisa's victory is a testament not only to her exceptional talent, but also to the tireless support of her Lidl-Trek teammates. She acknowledged their crucial role: “This win is for my teammates, for the Lidl-Trek team, the entire team, the staff, everyone that is working night and day for us,” Elisa said. “And then for my husband, because he’s always believing in me.” Notably, she became the first Italian rider to win the women's overall Giro d'Italia since 2008. Lidl-Trek’s Tour de France Journey 🚴♂️ Despite early challenges at the Tour de France, Lidl-Trek showed resilience and teamwork. Top contender, Mads Pedersen, was forced to withdraw after crashing in the final sprint of Stage 5. He showed his fighting spirit by being named the most combative rider for Stage 6, earning the golden starting number for his efforts. Unfortunately, Mads had to withdraw before the start of Stage 8. Undeterred, the team continued to push forward. Guilio Ciccone exemplified this determination in Stage 11, securing a top-5 finish. Lidl-Trek’s efforts were evident in numerous breakaways, including Jasper Stuyven’s near-stage win in Stage 9, where he was only caught with one kilometer to go. Nevertheless, this is the 25th time that Jasper has finished in the top 10 of a Tour de France stage. We are incredibly proud of Elisa and extend our heartfelt congrats to all people behind Lidl-Trek. These performances underline the strength and unity of Lidl-Trek.     A dream experience with the Lidl Kids Team Sebastian, Head of Department in Corporate Development at Lidl International, and his 10-year-old son Lorenz were among the lucky participants of the Lidl Kids Team program. Lorenz had the incredible opportunity to escort football players at the UEFA EURO 2024™ during the Turkey vs. Portugal match in Dortmund. As an Official Partner of UEFA EURO 2024™, Lidl offered over 1,100 children across Europe the chance to be an official mascot, accompanying Europe’s top football players onto the pitch through the Lidl Kids Team program. ❤️💙💛 Sebastian recalls the moment he received the exciting news: "It all started with my colleague convincing me to sign up my kids for the Lidl Kids Team. When I first got the news, the excitement was immense. My son Lorenz and I eagerly looked forward to the day." 🥳 Sebastian and Lorenz traveled to Dortmund the day before the match. "In the evening, we went bowling with the entire Lidl Kids Team from other Lidl countries to get to know each other." On match day, Lorenz and other Lidl Kids were taken to the stadium, where they enjoyed games and practiced their entry onto the field. 🏟️✨ "At first, I wasn’t sure if we would be able to see Lorenz on TV. But then, suddenly, my phone rang like crazy. All my family and friends sent me photos and videos of Lorenz appearing huge on TV. It was incredible! My wife even told me that a neighbor’s child wanted to switch families so he could stand on the same field as Cristiano Ronaldo." For Lorenz, it was an unforgettable experience to run in front of 60,000 people.     UEFA EURO 2024™: The week that was ⚽ This week we want to spotlight the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Lidl Kids Team From being flown to Germany, to enjoying all aspects of Lidl and UEFA EURO 2024 culture, the experience for our Lidl Kids has been much more than just the 90 minutes on the pitch. Each match became a special day, filled with emotions and fun activities, which we are sure will be remembered forever by the kids and their chaperones. 👦👧 240 lucky Lidl employees from across Europe won the opportunity for their kids to be part of the Lidl employees’ own Lidl Kids Team. While their kids were training in the stadium, the #teamlidl employees spent time getting to know each other and discovering the cities of Germany, enjoying walking tours together!⚽️ We talked to one of this week’s lucky winners, Maria Elisa, about her jam-packed weekend in Düsseldorf. Her favourite moments? Making friends with the other Lidl Kids Team members and Lidl chaperones, meeting the tournament Mascot, and getting exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the UEFA EURO 2024 stadium. “My mom and I had a lot of fun. We kids did it really well together. Thank you #teamlidl!” We also heard from one of the chaperones of the Lidl Kids Team match, Fátima, Consultant within the Engagement team at Lidl International, who echoed the excitement: “We were a really great group, and we all had a lot of fun together. Especially to see this enthusiasm in the children's eyes when they came back is really indescribable. It was a special day for everyone involved and will be remembered forever.” ❤️💛💙 This week on the pitch   As the tournament reaches its conclusion, there has been no shortage of drama and suspense on the pitch. Red cards, extra time, and penalties have all featured as we now have our final 2 for the tournament. Spain vs. England will go head-to-head in Berlin on Sunday, with the victor taking the grand prize. England looks to avenge their pain from three years ago, while Spain will look to regain their crown, last won in 2008 and 2012, aiming to become the first nation to win it four times.   The quarter-finals saw eight teams enter with ambitions to make it all the way. Spain defeated Germany after extra time, France conquered Portugal on penalties, with England doing the same against Switzerland, and the Netherlands beat Turkey. And then there was four. In the semi-finals, Spain won 2-1 over France. In the other semi-final, England scored in the 90th minute to beat the Netherlands 2-1.     Winning Tickets and being a part of the internal communication on the UEFA EURO 2024™ Verena, Junior Consultant in Corporate Communications at Lidl International, began her career journey with Lidl in 2021. Starting in the Sales and Supply Chain department, Verena is now a part of the Corporate Affairs department, where she works on internal communications. She creates engaging content for the intranet, including writing and posting articles for Lidl colleagues. For the UEFA EURO 2024, Verena and her colleagues manage the communication for #teamlidl at the headquarters. Part of this communication is to motivate them to take part in events such as public viewing and table football tournaments.⚽️✨ "I love being the messenger for such exciting topics. Getting positive reactions from my colleagues is incredibly rewarding, and I enjoy participating in the activities I promote!" Verena is also one of the lucky winners of an internal quiz competition, earning her tickets to the Portugal vs. Slovenia game at Frankfurt Arena. "The quiz was about how many asparagus boxes would fit on a football field. My partner and I went to the Lidl store, measured the box size and did some quick math. That got me into the lottery pot." 🏟️ Attending the game was a special occasion for Verena, who hadn’t been to a stadium in years. "The city was buzzing with international crowds, making it feel truly special. At the stadium, you experience all the emotions of the fans and players firsthand. We sat near the parents of the Lidl Kids program and saw their pride. The Lidl presence was everywhere, from billboards to the kids.     Success and commitment: Lidl-Trek at the Giro d'Italia Donne 🥇 Congratulations to our Lidl-Trek rider Elisa Longo Borghini for winning the first stage of this year's Giro d'Italia Donne! This high-performance race covers 876 kilometres and includes a tough climb on Stage 7 to Blockhaus peak (The Maiella) at an elevation of 1,680 m. Her team member Brodie Chapman came in third. During Stage 2, consisting of 110 kilometres between Sirmione and Volta Mantovana, Elisa Balsamo reached third place. 🚴♀️ Sport in general, and cycling in particular, has often given women less visibility and recognition. Today, the image is changing and we are proud to be part of this development through our sponsorship of Lidl-Trek. "When I started, my salary was significantly lower and we traveled by van. Today we have a full bus, stay in nice hotels and our races are even televised.
