    UEFA EURO 2024™: The week that was ⚽ Lidl has been on the ground again for week three of the UEFA EURO 2024 to see the eight teams make their way to the quarter finals! There has been plenty of action off the pitch, with an exclusive interview with a football legend (👀), Lidl employees experiencing the EUROs firsthand, and heaps of fans enjoying the Fan Zones. The Lidl Kids Team meet their football heroes 💛 This week, 176 Lidl Kids have followed the footsteps of the 792 who preceded them by stepping out onto the pitch to watch their heroes play. Football Legend, Philipp Lahm, shares a few words 🎙️ In our Lidl Magazine “FANZONE” for the UEFA EURO 2024, we interviewed the Football legend Philipp Lahm, Head of Organization for UEFA EURO 2024. He praises our commitment to provide sustainable and healthy options for fans during the tournament as we provide fresh fruit at the Lidl stands in the Fan Zones: “Healthy eating plays an important role in this triad of health, sport and education. It's great that Lidl is supporting UEFA with this campaign: as a result, this tournament leaves behind more than just beautiful goals.” During the interview, we also asked Philipp if he plans on visiting any Fan Zones. “Absolutely! That's what makes a tournament! I'm particularly looking forward to it. I won't reveal the time and place, it will be a surprise.” A first-hand perspective 🙋♀️ Sebastian, a lucky Lidl employee who won the opportunity to take his child Lorenz to the Turkey vs. Portugal game, shares his experience: “My son Lorenz couldn't sleep well at times because of the excitement, and we were really looking forward to the day. Grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, friends and even schoolmates sent me photos and short films of my Lorenz on TV, it really was an incredible feeling.” This week on the pitch ⚽ The last 16 certainly delivered on the pitch, with last minute equalizers, incredible saves, penalty drama and 19 goals!   Switzerland and Turkey delivered shock wins, over Italy and Austria respectively, while England needed a last gasp bicycle-kick to equalize against Slovakia, before winning in extra time.   Portugal saved a late penalty kick as they scrapped through on penalties.     Leonie’s Unforgettable Experience at the UEFA EURO 2024™ opening game Leonie, Executive Secretary at Lidl International, started her journey with #teamlidl in 2021 at the Purchasing Department. "I have a fantastic team with supportive colleagues. I love my role because it allows me to interact with various departments, which suits my sociable nature perfectly!" ❤️💙💛 Leonie was one of the lucky winners of tickets for the UEFA EURO 2024 offered by Lidl, specifically for the Germany vs. Scotland opening game. "I received the exciting news during my vacation. Lidl arranged the round trip to Munich, and our stadium seats were perfect, right in the front row, giving us a close-up view of the players and the match!" 🇩🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Leonie chose her dad as her companion, fully embracing this unique experience. "The city was buzzing with festivities, and there were many Scottish fans! My dad and I enjoyed a meal at a restaurant before the game, where we mingled and engaged with other fans. It was a special moment, and I felt incredibly grateful for this opportunity." 🏟️✨ For those aspiring to experience a European Championship match live, Leonie advises, "Just go for it and embrace every adventure. It's incredibly rewarding when my writing encourages readers to participate in sports events sponsored by Lidl." ❤️💙💛 Milena played a crucial role in the UEFA EURO 2024 project, focusing on corporate communications, including internal updates, press coverage as well as LinkedIn communication. Together with her colleagues, she was instrumental in motivating employees and customers to engage in various programs and events associated with UEFA EURO 2024™. Additionally, Milena was responsible for producing event reports that outlined the progress during the initial weeks. The communication effort for UEFA EURO 2024™ was a collaborative endeavor involving multiple Lidl countries in Europe.     UEFA EURO 2024™: The week that was ⚽ As the official partner for fresh fruit and vegetables for UEFA EURO 2024™, week 2 has been filled with excitement both on and off the pitch! More emotional moments for Lidl Kids 🤝 This week, another 400 members of the Lidl Kids Team had the opportunity to step onto the pitch, making it almost 800 lucky children from all over Europe who have experienced unforgettable moments.  From hugging football legend Christiano Ronaldo, having a chat with Czech captain Tomáš Souček, and meeting England icon Rio Ferdinand, to making new friends from different countries, the Lidl Kids Team was in high spirits. Keeping fans fresh in summer temperatures 🍎 ☀️ Our Lidl Fan Zones have been a hit, offering fans a refreshing pick and mix of fresh fruit, Lidl glasses, face painting, and fun on-site games with chances to win exciting prizes. Highlights from the pitch 🌟 The group stage ended with some incredible moments: - Croatia captain Luka Modric became the oldest goal scorer in tournament history - Thrilling last-minute goals determined final group standings, including Italy’s 98th-minute equaliser and Hungary’s 100th-minute winner - Records continue with another 4 goals scored while Lidl advertisements were being shown, totaling 12 for the tournament so far Congratulations to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, England, Denmark, Austria, France, Romania, Belgium, Portugal, and Türkiye for automatically qualifying for the Round of 16. The Netherlands, Georgia, Slovakia, and Slovenia have also secured their spots as the best third-placed teams.     From the football pitch to the racing road: Lidl promotes healthy lifestyle 🚴♀️ At Lidl, we believe in promoting a healthy lifestyle. We are dedicated to encouraging conscious nutrition and physical activity in every aspect of life. This commitment can also be seen in our partnership with Lidl-Trek. Just yesterday, Lidl Italia hosted an exciting meet and greet event in Florence, where fans and customers had the chance to meet the Lidl-Trek athletes just two days before the start of the Tour de France. At our Lidl store in Campi Bisenzio, fans were thrilled to meet the Lidl-Trek team. The event was packed with cycling-themed games, personalized Lidl-Trek gadgets, and delicious tastings of Lidl products. 🚲🍎 Meet the cyclists 🚵♂️ - Giulio Ciccone: Last year’s polka dot jersey winner and former yellow jersey holder. - Mads Pedersen: Former World Champion and two-time Tour de France stage winner. - As well as team manager Luca Guercilena, Carlos Verona, Jasper Stuyven, Julien Bernard, Ryan Gibbons, Tim Declerq and Toms Skujins. Giulio Ciccone shares his excitement: “It was wonderful to be able to celebrate the start of the Tour de France with Lidl-Trek fans and Lidl Italy customers.
