Safer, smarter, and more collaborative maritime operations

Info

Berlin-based Kaiko Systems GmbH was founded in late 2020 to make shipping safer, smarter, and more collaborative. We have developed a smart and user-friendly data collection and analysis tool that provides shipping companies and their stakeholders with comprehensive insights into the manual part of technical operations, such as inspection and maintenance. With a user-friendly mobile app, crews are able to continuously collect reliable technical data on the job. The automated, AI-based analysis then provides shore teams with data-based insights on potential risks and efficiency gains. Disruptions and downtimes of ships can thus be reduced. As we celebrate #WorldMaritimeDay, this year’s theme of “Navigating the Future: Safety First” aligns perfectly with Kaiko Systems’ mission to enhance safety and operational standards across the entire maritime industry. Through our mobile-first inspection tool, operators can navigate the new SIRE 2.0 tanker inspection regime, ensuring safer crews and vessels while protecting the marine environment. The #data collected from SIRE 2.0 inspections is incredibly valuable in training to avoid any #safety issues and improve seafarer welfare. This is largely due to learning that is associated with the human-factor element in the administrative tasks involved. Our software ensures real-time feedback on crew performance. In our recent SIRE 2.0 webinar, our CEO and Co-Founder Fabian Fussek said: “Kaiko Systems’ vision is to work with companies to lead the maritime industry to an area of fact-driven operations. They do this by utilising AI powered data that enables maritime professionals to collaborate at eye level between ship and shore, ensuring what we want to achieve, which is total safety and performance.” Click here to discover what the other expert panellists had to say on the impact of the new SIRE 2.0 regime: https://lnkd.in/esu2RAsx

🚢✨ At Kaiko Systems, we’re always looking for ways to stay at the forefront of innovation. With our recent launch of 𝗞𝗔𝗜, our comprehensive maritime AI agent, we’ve taken a major step toward automating the heavy workload of technical management teams. Attending the AI Accelerator Institute Summit in Berlin has only reinforced our belief in the power of AI to revolutionize industries—maritime included. Here are some key insights from the first two days of the summit: 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: • While many companies have explored Generative AI (GenAI) through PoCs, scaling these solutions remains a challenge. With KAI, we’ve focused on ensuring that our solution is not only scalable but also tailored specifically to the unique needs of the maritime industry. • The debate between fast, third-party solutions vs. in-house implementations is real. KAI strikes a balance, offering both fast deployment and robust, secure integrations with existing technical management systems. • Deutsche Bank’s use of AI to accelerate complex processes shows how automation can deliver tremendous value. Similarly, KAI automates time-consuming tasks like maintenance scheduling, freeing teams to focus on high-value work. • Ethics and regulatory concerns around AI remain hot topics. At Kaiko Systems, we’re committed to building responsible AI that supports maritime operations without compromising safety or compliance. 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: • There’s no one-size-fits-all roadmap for AI, and the journey from PoC to full-scale MVP is often harder than expected. With KAI, we’ve closed that gap by focusing on real-world implementation and tangible results from day one. • In-house LLM implementations come with significant technical debt, which is why we built KAI to integrate seamlessly with existing systems, reducing friction and accelerating value. • Meta’s Llama will soon be multimodal, a reminder that AI is evolving rapidly. At Kaiko Systems, we’ve designed KAI to be flexible and adaptable, ready to evolve alongside emerging technologies. • RAG frameworks help reduce hallucinations in AI, but only with strong data structures. KAI’s architecture is built with specific use cases in mind, ensuring high-quality, relevant insights that improve decision-making. The insights from the summit align perfectly with our vision for KAI: a solution that leverages cutting-edge AI to reduce complexity, improve efficiency, and create real value for maritime operators. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of AI in maritime! 🌍🚀 cc: Rodion Popkov

SIRE 2.0 is Here: What the New Inspection Regime Means for You At our recent webinar, held in conjunction with Kaiko Systems, we brought together industry experts to dive into the key changes SIRE 2.0 will bring, and it’s clear this new inspection regime marks a generational shift for the industry. Panellists included: Fabian Fussek, Co-Founder and CEO, Kaiko Systems Capt. Pradeep Chawla, CEO at Maritime Knowledge Limited, MarinePALS Capt. Leonid Zalenski, Chief Operating Officer, Columbia Shipmanagement Capt. Kuba Szymanski, FNI Kuba Szymanski, Secretary General of InterManager @Capt. Steve Barker, Project Transition Consultant to OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) The discussions, moderated by SMI’s Sean Moloney, heard how the goal of SIRE 2.0 is ultimately about improving safety for seafarers and ships and protecting the environment, and the new regime is not just about catching errors but also about understanding the root causes, and building trust across the industry from charterers down to seafarers. OCIMF’s Capt Barker stressed there was nothing new in the question set and it is not out to penalise or police seafarers, though he acknowledged it is against a much larger document, with questions for different ranks, and requires more emphasis on human factors. Fabian Fussek said SIRE 2.0 would mean a significant increase in findings, however having a structured preparation process would help to ensure readiness for all ranks.
