Having this new innovative technology available for our patients to access is game changing,” said Dr. Haval Balata, Respiratory Physician and Clinical Lead for the newly introduced Ion robotic bronchoscopy service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Balata and others at Wythenshawe Hospital, one of the first European hospitals to install the Ion endoluminal system for lung biopsies, are hoping to cut months off lung cancer diagnosis and care by using Ion to biopsy suspicious lung nodules that were too small or hard to reach with traditional biopsy methods. https://lnkd.in/efGs5W-J * For risks, cautions, and warnings and full prescribing information, refer to the associated Ion System user manual(s).

Where has your curiosity led you? Da Vinci senior clinical senior representative Meika Miller, MBA was “always the inquisitive type,” she says. “In the interview process, when I recognized that one of the characteristics Intuitive sought was curiosity, I knew this was the place for me.” Meika joined Intuitive in 2021 and has been growing her Sales career ever since. She credits the support of her team and a patients-first mindset with her success and personal fulfillment she’s found here. Outside of work, Meika spends time with her husband and four children, and she looks forward to continuing her journey at Intuitive, always following this advice from her grandmother: “Get comfortable being uncomfortable.” Because, as Meika explains, “If you’re always in the comfortable place, you’re not growing, you’re not stretching. When I joined Intuitive, my shoulders grew broader. Because it is a responsibility that I don’t take lightly. I want to be my best self for the patient.” Curious where a career at Intuitive might take you? Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e-B7NdMi #WeAreIntuitive

We built Ion on the belief that collecting lung tissue samples for biopsy could be safe and simple, even when lung nodules are small and located in hard-to-reach places. Our goal was to help shorten the patient journey to lung cancer diagnosis and care. Preliminary results of the CONFIRM study presented at the AABIP conference tell us we’re getting there. Why does it matter? Because patients told they have a suspicious lung nodule shouldn’t have to wait for answers.

At the point where inspired surgeons meet innovative technologies, there is a spark—an opportunity for change. In that spirit, we were proud to introduce the Society of Black Academic Surgeons to da Vinci at last week's #SBASUCDavis2024. Built from nearly three decades of experience integrating robotics technology with advanced software, da Vinci systems deliver precision, vision, and control. But technology itself doesn't ensure access to minimally invasive care. Access starts with education, mentorship, and collaboration. We’re better, more insightful, and more innovative—together. That’s Intuitive.

Advancing minimally invasive care is about more than innovative technology; it’s also about increasing access. Intuitive was proud to support the Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS) as they hosted their 34th Annual Scientific Meeting. SBAS is dedicated to improving health, advancing science, and fostering careers for African American and other underrepresented minority surgeons. In support of these worthy endeavors, Intuitive offered surgeons attending #SBASUCDavis2024 opportunities to learn how da Vinci and Ion can help deliver life-enhancing care to their communities. Surgeons test drove da Vinci. They experienced the Ion endoluminal simulator and discovered how we’re transforming lung cancer care. They also explored our training pathways and mentorship opportunities, as we sought to help advance careers and continuously innovate—together.
