Our team has been hard at work on bringing one of the most crucial assets for trustful data sharing the 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹 on its path to standardization ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ejxcDcZk This protocol is not just a technical innovation; it is a strategic enabler for the data-driven economy. It orchestrates the necessary steps for two or more parties to share data, including requesting a catalogue, negotiating a contract, and managing the transfer process. Our focus paper describes the choices IDSA made and why they – in our view – form the best path to standardized data space technology. It’s the essence of the last seven years of IDSA work and now ready to be pushed for standardization by the end of 2024. The Dataspace Protocol is at the very core of the technical implementation of every data space component and guarantees interoperability between components and data space participants. Positioned at the center of the IDSA assets landscape, the Dataspace Protocol translates the principles of the IDS Reference Architecture Model (IDS-RAM) into actionable technical specifications. It also aligns with the IDSA Rulebook, implementing the necessary compliance and trust measures at a technical level. As part of IDSA’s broader mission, the Dataspace Protocol on track to becoming an international ISO standard, with further development and integration supported by the Eclipse Data Space Working Group. Imagine your smartphone failing to charge because it doesn’t fit the electrical outlet. This is why standards matter, and it’s why IDSA is dedicated to standardizing data-sharing concepts. The key to data spaces is the data connector ❗ To facilitate data sharing, participants in a data space need a data space connector. This software piece is crucial for transferring data between various systems, applications, and platforms. It ensures trusted and secure data sharing. Ensuring reliability in a data space hinges on the interoperability of these connectors, which requires verification. While we already have a set of usable standards, further additions are necessary. That's why IDSA developed the Dataspace Protocol.
