The IHS is an academic research institution in the field of renewable energy focusing on fluid machinery in hydropower.

Info

The IHS is a research institution studying hydraulic fluid machinery for hydropower applications. Being interdisciplinary at its core, our research stretches across a broad area of expertise: Fluid dynamics and multi-phase flows, structural dynamics and flow-induced vibrations, plant dynamics and operational transients, automated design optimization, experimental techniques and model tests, and the application of AI techniques in hydropower. The IHS is equipped with multiple testing facilities: Two closed loop water test rigs, an open channel test rig, as well as other smaller test facilities. It is also equipped with a sound measurement chamber for the investigation of hydraulic elements. Our Institute offers a variety of lectures and seminars covering experimental techniques, numerical techniques, optimization methods as well as basics of fluid mechanics and renewable energy.
