New Level of Scale - a 5x leap in e-Fuel production capacity 🛠️ The third module of our e-Fuel pioneer plant is currently in construction! It consists of multiple container units, which are being successively manufactured in Karlsruhe and soon will be delivered to the site at Frankfurt Höchst. This module will complete our plant’s production capabilities. It adds to the two modules that have already been installed. 📈 At the same time, it marks a significant leap in capacity per module, with a 5x larger output compared to the first two. This step is key to accelerating our production ramp-up and highlights the importance of combining our two approaches: "Numbering up" à increasing capacity through replication and "Scaling up" à increasing the size of the modules.  🚀 By leveraging both strategies, INERATEC is able to rapidly expand production capacity and pave the way for larger-scale production sites worldwide – with our pioneer plant as a flagship of innovation. ♻️ This increase will allow INERATEC to recycle up to 8,000 tons of CO2 every year, converting it into ~2,500 tons of sustainable #eFuels. The development marks a key milestone in our mission of supplying climate-friendly e-Fuels and #FuelingFutureMobility!  Stay tuned as we continue to lead the way into the #NextEra of mobility!

✈️Sustainable aviation – one mission, many goals. How do the EU-level and global goals or SAF vary? In the aviation industry, various levels have set specific targets for the introduction of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to enhance sustainability within the industry. How they are aligned by the ReFuelEU: 🔹 progressively increase the minimum proportion of SAF in fuel supplies at EU airports from 2% in 2025 to 70% by 2050. 🔹 A particular focus is on synthetic fuels (eSAF), whose share is set to increase from at least 1.2% in 2030 to 35% in 2050. 🔹 Coordination of goals in strict alignment with EU member states. 🔹 The EU remains in line with global rules set by the ICAO and in multilateral and bilateral agreements between EU and third countries. Global goals: International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) 🔹 They were adopted at the third Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels in November 2023, organised by ICAO. 🔹 Targets to cut carbon emissions from aviation fuels by 5% by 2030 relative to conventional fossil fuels. 🔹 The global targets are aligned with the capacities of the individual countries to develop the SAF infrastructure, without assigning them to a specific country. This enables a globally differentiated but integrative approach to the common goal of reducing aviation emissions. 💡 INERATEC is eager to face these challenges by boosting the availability of eSAF – and for this, specific goals like these do promote the adaption of cutting-edge solutions like Power-to-X technologies. #eSAF #SustainableAviation #NextEra

Reducing CO2 emissions with eSAF ✈️ The aviation industry is undergoing an unprecedented transformation, driven by initiatives like ReFuelEU Aviation, which aim to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. A crucial element of this transformation is the integration of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), particularly through the use of Synthetic Blending Components (SBC). What are SBCs? 💡 SBCs are unblended SAFs composed of synthesized hydrocarbons that meet the specifications of ASTM D7566. These components can be utilized in the production of semi-synthetic jet fuel. 💡 SBC can be derived from biomass or from hydrogen and CO2 (e-SAF). This fuel blend is known as drop-in fuels. However, the CO2 reduction potential of eSAF is significantly higher than that of biofuels. Consequently, INERATEC is significantly investing in not only #eFuel but specifically eSAF production, for example with an upgrading unit for the e-Fuels and e-waxes from the pioneer plant. 🍃 To meet ReFuelEU's goal of reducing emissions by 55% by 2030, jet fuel suppliers will need to progressively increase the proportion of SAF in the conventional aviation fuel supplied at EU airports. These developments are crucial for the future of sustainable aviation. #eSAF #SustainableAviation #NextEra

While INERATEC is committed to scaling up e-fuel production in the near term, their long-term vision is equally compelling, centred on maintaining a decisive lead over the competition. Tim Boeltken, Founder and Managing Director at INERATEC , puts it plainly: “Internally, we have set a goal to transform one gigawatt of electrical energy or renewable energy into approximately 125 million gallons of sustainable e-fuel by the beginning of the 2030s.” Balancing immediate action with long-term ambition is essential in an industry where future planning is critical, yet progress today cannot be delayed. INERATEC's approach involves a step-by-step strategy, starting with their Pioneer Plant in Frankfurt, which will produce 2,500 tonnes of e-fuel annually. Alongside this, the company is deeply invested in research and development, aiming to enhance production efficiency and explore new applications for e-fuels. How safety and sustainability drive the future of aviation fuel ⚡ In the aviation industry, fuel safety and reliability are of paramount importance – no exceptions for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). 💡 To ensure the quality and safety of SAF, the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) takes a central role with the ASTM D7566 standard. This international standard precisely defines the quality requirements and ensures compliance with specifications for fuel parameters such as 🔹 Density 🔹 Flash and freezing point 🔹 Heat of combustion 🔹 Volumetric share of aromatics. Ensuring suitability for commercial aviation requires all SAF production paths to undergo extensive testing, including determining the maximum blend ratio with conventional aviation fuel. This is what INERATEC has already: The eSAF, produced from green hydrogen and CO2 in our Power-to-Liquid plant, is blended according to ASTM 7566 standards and can be used as Jet A-1 fuel for aviation. Recently, ASTM has introduced the clearing method, which enables a faster and more resource-efficient evaluation of new SAF production paths, accelerates their integration into commercial air transportation and contributes to compliance with the highest safety standards. 💡 Hit Follow to make sure you don't miss the following insights on eSAF in the upcoming weeks. #eSAF #SustainableAviation #NextEra
