🔋 **Battery Funding Cuts Jeopardize Germany's Energy Future** 🔋 Germany has set ambitious climate goals and is committed to electrifying transportation. Yet, the recent decision by the Federal Government to halt funding for battery research and development through the Climate and Transformation Fund (KTF) is a serious misstep. This isn't just a budgetary concern—it's a significant setback for our collective progress toward a sustainable future. Academic battery research does more than advance technology; it **trains and educates the next generation of battery scientists and engineers**. These are the professionals our industry critically needs to innovate and meet the challenges of the energy transition. Without adequate funding, we're facing a talent gap that could hinder advancements in energy storage and electric mobility. There's a clear contradiction here: we strive for a greener future and the electrification of transport, but we're cutting support for the very research and education that make these goals achievable. How can we expect to reach our climate objectives without investing in the skilled workforce required to get us there? It's crucial to reassess these funding cuts and recognize the vital role that academic research and education play in enabling the energy transition. Excited to share my first research article published in Advanced Functional Materials after joining POLiS - Cluster of Excellence! We explored the potential of a novel material, K2SnCl6, as an electrode material and investigated the effect of anionic shuttling on the electrode. Finally: our paper ist out with a systematic study that sheds light on the composition and morphology of Mg deposits during plating at the anode, with different electrolytes and under different plating conditions.
