Last week, we visited the project location to discuss the start of construction! Annually, the integrated plants of Greenlyte and Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik (ZBT) will capture 40 tons of carbon dioxide from the air, produce 2.5 tons of hydrogen, and convert it into 5 tons of SNG - all with the help of renewable energy. Our plant will then be the first facility in Europe where direct air capture is fully integrated with the conversion to synthetic natural gas at a large demo scale. The plant is expected to be operational by the end of the year with full-scale operations commencing in Q1 2025. With our combined approach to delivering CO2 and H2 through one piece of equipment, we can significantly lower the costs and thus help our fuel partners (like ZBT) to produce affordable green fuels at scale. Furthermore, we are excited to announce Brusche Process Technology as our official EPC partner for our DAC(H)-2-SNG project and more to come. Brusche Process Technologies brings a wealth of experience in bringing sustainable process plants, such as power-to-liquid and waste-to-energy to life with many clients ranging from oil and gas or universities. We are proud to lead this project and eager to see how the insights gained will benefit future DAC(H)CU projects. 🌱 We thank the Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Industrie, Klimaschutz und Energie des Landes NRW and the #EU for co-funding this initiative. www.greenlyte.tech GCT operates a low energy DAC approach to capture CO2 while generating hydrogen as a byproduct. The process consists of 3 main process steps. Absorption in a liquid, precipitation and desorption through alkaline electrolysis. The technology is based on 15 years of research with relevant patent applications filed and working prototypes. The company was founded as a university spin-out by 2 serial entrepreneurs and an experienced DAC researcher. Join us: https://greenlyte-carbon-technologies-gmbh.jobs.personio.de/

Yesterday, our founder Dr. Niklas Friederichsen joined an engaging panel discussion on "Climate Challenge Calling! Serial Entrepreneurs Moving into Hydrogen" alongside Trevor Best from Syzygy Plasmonics and Philip Kessler from TURN2X, hosted by Uwe Kerkmann from H2UB. The conversation was filled with powerful insights and innovative ideas about the future of #hydrogen and its critical role in the energy sector and for carbon capture utilization. The panelist also reflect on their challenges in building a #greentech startup: 💡 Niklas Friederichsen | CTO, Greenlyte Carbon Technologies: "As an entrepreneur you sometimes get to the point where there is no expert on a problem you are trying to solve. Then it becomes a question of how fast you can troubleshoot and make decisions. And that is where the muscle built in previous companies really pays off." 💡 Trevor Best | CEO, Syzygy Plasmonics: "After working in oil and gas, I tried to start companies to benefit the planet. I made a list of ideas and tried to kill an idea as fast as possible. (...) Syzygy was like idea number 80 and we couldn’t kill it." 💡 Philipp Kessler | CEO, Turn2X: "One advantage of being a serial entrepreneur is knowing investors and investors knowing you. One key investor of my first company is also a lead investor in Turn2X." A big thank you to #H2UB for having us and for building such an impactful event that brings together the key players in the hydrogen industry. Let's continue to drive the conversation and actions towards a greener and more sustainable future! 🌿💧⚡️ #greenlyte #hydroverse #CCU #DAC #ClimateAction #CleanEnergy
