The project “𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬” (𝐈𝐌𝐂𝐂𝐑), financed through a KfW grant of EUR 12.60 million, was launched in 2017 to increase the use of improved health care by the Nepali population, specifically by pregnant women and newborn in far-west regions. Indicators included: 📈 increasing institutional deliveries per participating facility. 📈 increasing ante- and postnatal care investigations per participating facility. Until recently, implementation of the programme was delayed due to a variety of reasons including the COVID-19 pandemic. We are pleased to announce that GOPA Worldwide Consultants, with sub-consultants MEH Consultants (P) Ltd. and De-Fort Consultants-Nepal, has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) of Nepal to bring the project back on track and support the MoHP with: ✅ rehabilitation / construction & equipping of health facilities, ✅ improving communication between the staff of the health facilities in the pilot region of the programme, ✅ improving access to hygiene products in the programme regions. The project involves the construction of one perinatal center along with 4 health posts which are grouped together under two packages: ➡️ Package 1 – Construction and equipping of a Maternal and Perinatal Center in Dadeldhura along with Doctor’s and Nurse’s Quarters ➡️ Package 2 – Construction and equipping of four Health Posts in the Municipalities of Bagarkot, Chhatiwan, Kotila and Malladehi along with staff quarters We are committed to providing robust implementation support for all five project sites, and since April 2024, work is progressing as planned. We’re excited about the launch of the 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (ACEBA), an ASEAN-centric initiative of and for businesses to demonstrate and catalyse leadership and action on circular economy. ACEBA supports ASEAN businesses in the transition towards a circular economy, as foreseen in the 2021 ASEAN Circular Economy Framework. With the support of SWITCH-Asia Official, ACEBA was jointly launched by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council 2021 (ABAC) and the ASEAN CSR Network (A CN), which serves as its champion for its ASEAN Code for Responsible and Inclusive Business. The ACEBA launch event took place today in Indonesia in the framework of the SWITCH-Asia Official programme, which @GOPA Worldwide Consultants is currently implementing the Policy Support Component together with NIRAS International Consulting, funded by the European Union. ✨For the past two weeks GOPA’s Health and Social Development (HSD) Expert and Backstopping Team has been in Maseru, Lesotho to kick off the 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐌𝐂𝐀-𝐇𝐒𝐒-𝐓𝐀) with MCA LESOTHO II. This procurement falls within the HSS Project under the Health and Horticulture Compact funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation.   The overall aim of the HSS Project is to improve health outcomes through strengthening Lesotho’s PHC system. LTD, we’ve supported the project management unit of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 (𝐏𝐇𝐂) 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐈𝐈. Technical assistance (TA) addressed two project components: ✅Strengthening capacity of selected Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) related to urban PHC services delivery; ✅Mitigating climate change risks and promoting climate change resilience. A key aspect of the project was the support provided in preparation of the Strategic Health Action Plans (SHAPs) for the ULBs. The SHAP was the first organised effort at scale to influence the ULBs to change the approach from project mode to a longer-term service orientation in PHC, for their respective constituencies. Following a detailed stock-taking of the current resources of the participating ULBs, and analysis of the key issues to be resolved, the SHAPs complemented the policy support initiatives that the TA team provided to the government (particularly the LGD), regarding reforms needed in the areas of Human Resource Management and financing. 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐬 🎉 Our project in the #Seychelles concluded successfully in May with closure events organised in collaboration with the Trade Department of the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its capacity of National Authorising Officer, and the EU Delegation to the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles. Project beneficiaries included Seychelles Bureau of Standards, Seychelles Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Seychelles Fishing Authority, Seychelles Investment Board, Seychelles Revenue Commission, Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy, Ministry of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, Fair Trading Commission and National Consumers Forum. This #EU-funded project, implemented in consortium with International Consulting Expertise (Belgium), began in November 2019, aimed at enhancing trade through a competitive integration of Seychelles into the regional & international trading system, along 3 objectives: 1.       Improve the efficiency, ownership & capacity of key actors to implement the current EPA and other trade & regional integration agreements. 2.       Support value chains upgrading in the manufacturing, agriculture and fisheries sectors and job creation through high value addition, using environmentally friendly production techniques. 3.       Improve trade facilitation and trade & investment promotion. The project enhanced efficiency & building capacity of key actors, conducting feasibility studies, delivering training and mentorship, ensuring effective policy formulation, and promoting gender balance. Activities included 3 components: ·         Project management ·         Trade facilitation support ·         Productive sector development support Trade facilitation was enhanced through revising trade-related legislation, regulations, and digitalising main revenue & trade services. Trade & investment was supported via mechanisms like infrastructure development, sustainability protocols, and cleaner technologies. Support to productive sector development involved enhancing export potential for fisheries & aquaculture products, improving fish value chains, promoting terrestrial agricultural sectors, implementing short-term economic diversification measures, supporting organic agriculture, and optimizing by-products utilization. The project focused on aquaculture development through policy & regulatory reviews, capacity building, farmer training, research & innovation, blue economy monitoring, and assessments of carbon pollution & environmental impacts. The EU is supporting the 14th University Student Climate Academy, empowering Korean youth as future Climate Ambassadors. Hosted by the Korean National Assembly Forum on Climate Change, the academy features a 9-day intensive training, including a mock COP29 of the UNFCCC, expert-led lectures, and field trips. Outstanding students will have the exclusive opportunity to attend #COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22. 💪 Participants will: ✔ gain insights into EU strategies towards climate neutrality, particularly the European #GreenDeal. ✔ have the chance to interview EU officials during a field trip to the EU delegation. ✔ benefit from EU support in their participation at COP29. H.E. Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, Maria Castillo Fernandez, emphasised the crucial need to empower youth in climate action: “We repeatedly say that your generation will be most affected by climate change and that you should stand at the very core of the climate dialogues.
