Unlocking the Potential of Generative AI in Industrial Inspection 💻 Data collection and availability are common roadblocks for industry-grade applications of AI in visual inspection. Labeling often requires significant effort and sufficient training data for quality deviations can be difficult to obtain. Generative AI applications (such as Midjourney and DALL·E) have shown that automated image synthesis with a combination of concepts, attributes, and styles is possible. But how can we leverage these new GenAI technologies to support data generation within industrial inspection tasks? These are the three most appealing benefits we see to solve industrial data challenges: Enhancing Realism in Synthetic Data: GenAI can be used to increase the realism of synthetic data. CAD simulations are transformed into photo-realistic images, which can be fully integrated into MLOps applications. This eliminates the need of real data to re-train and fine-tune synthetic data sets. Augmenting Limited Data Sets: GenAI can generate numerous variations from a few image samples, enabling high-performance AI training even with scarce data. This is crucial for recognizing rare error occurrences in industrial processes. Application and Industry-Specific Data Generation: GenAI can understand industry-specific visual concepts and use them to automatically generate image datasets. This means we can create highly optimized recognition models for specific industrial environments and processes using just a small set of initial images. #ai #automation #genai #inspection #industrial #visualinspection #datageneration

If you have the chance to get the current weekend edition of the Berliner Morgenpost, highly recommended: there is an article in the TOP 200 supplement (the biggest employers in Berlin - columns if growth and innovation) on how new technologies are changing the industry. The text is based on a longer interview and insights from our managing director Jens Lambrecht. Ronnie Vuine from Micropsi Industries is also quoted. The text is recommended to anyone with an interest in AI and robotics and concludes with an attractive vision for Gestalt Robotics: "Together with our partners and customers, we want to shape the future of automation and fully exploit the possibilities of AI". #AI #Robotics #MachineLearning #Industry40

🚀 Upgrade instead of repair is the motto of our research project MRO 2.0 (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul). Currently 2. phase of the project is running with full steem. The use of future technologies such as digital solutions or additive manufacturing processes can lead to product and process innovations that enable the extension of operating intervals. Within the framework of the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science e.V., components, systems and machines are no longer to be repaired in the traditional way, but are to be equipped with better properties during repair through new technologies. Gestalt Robotics is involved in several work packages: ✅ We contribute with expertise and support in modeling and designing edge cloud solutions, specifically over 5G networks and for closed-loop control systems. ✅We are responsible for the development of quality and qualification metrics of AI models in image processing. ✅We develop an AI-based defect detection system as well as providing support for test piece development and the development of distortion control. Our partners in this project are: Siemens Energy, Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionsanlagen und Konstruktionstechnik IPK, Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung, Technische Universität Berlin, CONTACT Software, SERVITIZE, Datalyze Solutions GmbH, KleRo GmbH Roboterautomation, YOUSE GmbH The project is carried out within the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science e.V. It is funded by the Investitionsbank Berlin (ProFIT) and co-financed by the European Union. We are thrilled to announce that Gestalt Robotics has been selected from numerous initiatives as one of the final ten projects for the concept phase of the "Reallabor Mobilität-Logistik." This innovative project, funded by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Operations, aims to revolutionize urban logistics. On May 13, 2024, the Senate Department invited all selected consortia to a meeting to get to know each other and for the official handover of the funding notices. This significant occasion marked the kickoff for the intensive concept phase where our approach to a RealLab in Siemensstadt Square will be designed and put into a proposal for the senate. Just a few days later, on May 22, our consortium gathered for the first deep-dive workshop at the Werner-von-Siemens Campus Innovation Center. Together with our partners—the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science e.V., T-Base Consulting GmbH , Siemens, DB InfraGO, and BEHALA—we delved deeply into planning to refine our concept for the implementation phase. At Gestalt Robotics, we deploy cutting-edge technologies in automation, digitalization, and robotics to tackle the challenges of the last mile and minimize motorized goods traffic in the neighborhood. Our vision is to develop sustainable and efficient solutions that can find application not only in Siemensstadt but also in other districts of Berlin and beyond. We thank the Senate Department for their support and look forward to the next steps. Follow us for updates on this exciting project that redefines the future of urban logistics. #Innovation #Robotics #MobLog #Siemensstadt #Sustainability #GestaltRobotics #InnovateBerlin #SmartCity #FutureOfLogistics #SustainableCities
