👉 https://mepwatergroup.eu 👈 #standupforwater, #euwahlen2024 #WASH #FutureEU #WASH #EUElections2024 Sebastian Everding Tiemo Wölken René Repasi Jens Geier Gabriele Bischoff Delara Burkhardt Sergey Lagodinsky Svenja Hahn Hannah Neumann Jutta Paulus

🌱 Breaking Silos for Resilient Communities 💧 Register now! Few more places available for an exciting in-person evening event on 11 June at Welthungerhilfe (WHH) HQ.
💧 BREAKING SILOS FOR RESILIENT COMMUNITIES - Water, Food Security and Health in the climate crisis 💧 Stiftung Gesunde Erde - Gesunde Menschen, WaterAid, German WASH Network, and Welthungerhilfe (WHH) cordially invite you to join us for "Breaking Silos for Resilient Communities". Moderation: Belinda Abraham, Viva con Agua Speakers will include: Adnan Ibne Abdul Qader, Climate and Water Governance Specialist, WaterAid, Bangladesh Alexia Knappmann, Germany Representative, WaterAid Dr. med. Eckart von Hirschhausen, Founder, Stiftung Gesunde Erde - Gesunde Menschen Dr. Bella Monse, Policy Advisor, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Manang Lucy, Research and Advocacy Officer, Karamoja Development Forum, Uganda Mathias Mogge, Secretary General, Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Pamela Onyoo, Emergency Response Expert - Food Security and Nutrition, Welthungerhilfe Humanitarian Directorate Tove Lexén, Climate Policy Advisor, WaterAid, Sweden The implementation of the rights to adequate food and to clean and safe water are fundamental for health and wellbeing – for everyone, everywhere, without exception. The effects of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution are now and, in the years to come, threatening global food, nutrition security, public health, and the access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). As we strive to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis, adaptation is imperative. Yet, progress remains too slow, adaptation finance is lacking, and the efforts of most stakeholders are often siloed. During the United Nations technical climate talks in Bonn, delegations will prepare for the Climate Conference in Azerbaijan this December (COP29), and nine years after the Paris Agreement, Member States are on the verge of negotiating indicators for the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). Climate-resilient WASH, food and nutrition security, and health impacts are at the top of GGA's targets. The time for action is now. Join our event where we showcase evidence emphasizing the impact of climate change on global food and nutrition security, access to WASH and health. We advocate for an integrated approach to break down silos, recognizing that resilience to climate change can only be achieved through comprehensive strategies. We seek to foster collaboration, discuss common barriers and drivers for change. Together we will reflect on political developments, and join forces to support locally led adaptation, adequate financing, and confront the complex challenges at their intersection. Our common objective: healthy communities that are less vulnerable and more resilient to climate effects. 18:00 – Doors open and snacks will be served 18:30 – Event begins 20:00 – Reception with food and drinks ❗ Please register here for the event: https://lnkd.in/eUEYgME7 Alexia Knappmann Michael Kuehn Johannes Rück Donald Sandmann

Our 6-day Regional WASH Workshop for the MENA region is slowly but surely coming to an end today. With a fantastic group of experienced WASH practitioners from 6 different countries from the region and more than 15 organisations and institutions it was an excellent opportunity for fruitful exchange of knowledge and experiences on key WASH topics and trends from the various country contexts. The workshop took place in Erbil (Kurdish Region of Iraq), hosted by arche noVa – Initiative für Menschen in Not e.V. and is jointly organised and conducted with German Toilet Organization. The Regional WASH Workshop series is conducted annually in the four target regions Asia, MENA, anglophone and francophone Africa. It is an initiative of the German WASH Network, financially supported by the Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany. If you are interested to participate in upcoming regional WASH workshops you can apply via the following link: https://lnkd.in/gT3tJvJ5

10 years after the first #MHday, which was initiated here in Berlin by our member WASH United, it is really empowering to see the political backing that the topic of menstrual hygiene and health now receives. WASH United, with the support of our member WaterAid have just organised a very nice parliamentary breakfast in the Deutscher Bundestag, hosted by the very supportive MPs Josephine Ortleb, Gyde Jensen and Susanne Menge and even the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Lisa Paus, stopped by. However, action must also follow, as there is still a lack of concrete actions, commitments and budgets. We need to move away from an empathy-driven approach towards a systematic integration of gender analyses, gender-responsive project designs and budgets that adequately address the needs of women and girls and also work against the stigma of menstruation. Now its time to join the movement and get ready for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of #MHDay, which will take place on 28 May period (.) ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g_Eyu3av

Da geht was. 💪 💪 💪 Gemeinsam für ein #PeriodFriendlyGermany und eine #PeriodFriendlyWorld #MHDay2024 Claudine Urban-Schneider Marie-Louise Knapp Hannah Fürstenwerth Ina Jurga Aya SENBEL Sophia Bäurle Sarah Bagel ☀️ Katie Gallus Christian Klant Ganz viel 🫶🫶🫶geht an die Deutsche Postcode Lotterie und WaterAid für die finanzielle Unterstützung für diese Veranstaltung. ❤️💪

It has been an intense weeks of mobilising political support in the Deutscher Bundestag. We would like to thank the MPs and their staff who are championing the topic of WASH. This is extremely important, especially at a time when budget cuts are being discussed that will hit our target groups, the most vulnerable people affected by crisis, conflict or the effects of climate change, the hardest. Dr. Wolfgang Stefinger who invited Thilo Panzerbieter to speak on global water security and climate resilient WASH services in the “Parliamentary Advisory Council on Sustainable Development". This was an excellent opportunity for us to promote a global "Wasserwende" that values water as a common good and prioritises the implementation of the human rights to water and sanitation. Please check the recording and report: https://lnkd.in/ezZM-Jp7 Secondly Sanae Abdi and Dr. Karamba Diaby, who invited us to present the network as well as the current challenges and opportunities in WASH and menstrual health and hygiene in a meeting of the working group on economic cooperation and development of the SPD Bundestagsfraktion, involving Dr. Bärbel Kofler (Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). After excellent inputs from Olivia Marina Kunz and Thorsten Kiefer we had a fruitful discussion on how Germany, as the second largest bilateral donor for WASH, can best contribute and support us in realising our vision of WASH for all, especially for women and girls.
