✈️ History of the Do228 - Part 4: Series production ✈️ We continue our series on the history of our #aircraft and look at the 1980s and 1990s, when the #Do228 entered series production. Production of the new aircraft got off to a good start and the Do228 was manufactured in series at the #Oberpfaffenhofen site in the 1980s and 1990s and delivered to customers all over the world. The Do228 proved to be particularly versatile, both for passenger and cargo transport applications as well as a special mission aircraft. This summer, the German Navy's Naval Air Wing 3 "Graf Zeppelin" celebrated its 60th anniversary. At the same time, the flying unit has been involved in oil pollution reconnaissance for 30 years – General Atomics AeroTec Systems as the #OEM of the #Do228 is the reliable partner of the Naval Air Wing which operates a fleet of two Do228 aircraft to accomplish this mission. ✈️   The Do228 fleet is used for the detection of marine pollution in the North and Baltic Sea, for example to identify oil spills in case of accidents. 🔎   General Atomics AeroTec Systems congratulates the Naval Air Wing 3 on this anniversary and wishes all times good flights, happy landings and successful missions!

✈️ History of the Do228 - Part 3: Certification ✈️ We continue our series on the history of the #Do228 and look at the years 1981 to 1984, when our aircraft received its #certification. On December 18, 1981, the new Do228 received German certification from the German Federal Aviation Authority. Only a few months later, the first Do228s was delivered and put into service in 1982. Our #volleyballteam, the GA Beach Pilots, was successful at the Bavarian Beach Cup and qualified for the final! A strong performance! 🏝️🏐✈️ We competed in a group of five in the preliminary round of the Beach Volleyball Cup. Due to bad weather, our preliminary round match day had to be postponed by two days, but our ATS team was highly motivated and well prepared. In the first round, we faced a top opponent and suffered a very narrow defeat after a great performance. This only increased our motivation and the GA Beach Pilots went on to win three well-deserved matches in the next preliminary rounds. This resulted in second place in the group and our team can take part in the final of the #BavarianBeachCup in three weeks' time, when the 100 best corporate teams from all over Bavaria will compete against each other on July 20 at the Beachdome in Munich! 🏝️🏐✈️ Congratulations on the great preliminary round and we are keeping our fingers crossed for the final! 👍 #gaats #generalatomicsaerotec

✈️ History of the Do228 - Part 2: Test flights ✈️ In part 2 of our series on the history of the #Do228, we take a look at the #testflights. After the successful development of the aircraft, it was time to test it. The development of the Do228 prototypes progressed rapidly. Initially, two different versions were developed, the Do228-100 with 15 seats and the Do228-200 with 19 seats.
