 🎤 Why did I co-found Fondsfrauen?   A question I recently answered at our Young Female Talent event in #Zurich, where we hosted close to 100 students, graduates, interns and young professionals, alongside senior members of our #Switzerland community. 🔥 Since the beginning of my career, I’ve been deeply passionate about three areas: client service, sales and talent development!   These have been central to my work throughout my 35 years in the asset management and finance industry. Despite the demands of my 24/7 jobs, I always made time for talent development - whether it was my 10-year involvement in the #musicindustry or nearly a decade now with Fondsfrauen.   Reflecting on my early career, I had multiple female role models at a time when this was not even a topic. They encouraged me and played a significant role in shaping my personality. Unfortunately, they are not on LinkedIn, but one that continues to inspire and support me is Evi Vogl -  the winner of the first Fondsfrauen Award for #Rolemodel of the Year. 🙏   Between 2001 and 2010, I had the opportunity to work with many women in #London who had a very positive influence on my professional journey. Not all of these remarkable women are on LinkedIn, but some of them are: Helen Roberts, Fatima Luis, Grainne Alexander, Karina Litvack, Julia Casson, Allegra Patrizi (ex van Hovell), Helene Williamson 🙏 🙏   It wasn’t until my return to Germany in 2014 that I noticed a significant #gendergap, which motivated me to take action. Why Luxembourg needs to learn how to sell. (Fast!) The short answer? Because it never did. The long one? Here it is: From 963 until 1842, Luxembourg's main activity was agriculture. A noble occupation with a simple sales process: the market (as in 'Place Guillaume'). In 1842, the Zollverein changed that. Germany financed the Steel industry investments and started buying our products. Fast forward to 1981 and banking secrecy. Again, people were coming to Luxembourg with money. No need to sell. High margins. No questions asked. And finally the investment funds miracle from 1995 took place, with Luxembourg doing the back/middle office while international giants likes BNP Paribas, Fidelity or Universal Investment are selling our products all over the world. Meanwhile, a huge public service developed, where - as CGFP keep reminding us - any kind of performance evaluation is out of the question. Long story short: - We do have "Sales Champions" here. I have in mind PM International, CERATIZIT, Tsume Art, LUXLAIT, etc... But these are rare international champions that cannot compensate for the total absence of sales culture in Luxembourg in our companies and our public service. (Think "Purecycle", "Fage” or "Knauf") - The State budget below shows that the Government is planning to reduce its expenditure until 2026, but also its revenues until 2027 at least (Source: Government: https://lnkd.in/eTVSfQet) - This is not rocket science: if our Fund cash-cow is no longer growing like before (Source: ALFI: https://lnkd.in/d8F89V77), then the only plan B is the REAL ECONOMY: start-ups, industrial players, independent workers, shop owners, entrepreneurs and even Banks. All of them have a huge margin for improvement for 2 reasons: 1. Luxembourg is not a significant market per se. (Told me one of my heroes, Jean-Claude Biver 🤗) 2. Competition is low here. Let's make it happen.
