⚡ Functional: Fast, Sustainable, and Curious ⚡ Speed and asking questions – these were our two main themes during last week’s quarterly offsite. And once again, it was a fantastic opportunity for our distributed team to connect, share ideas, learn from one another, and most importantly – have some fun! 🎉 In an interactive session, Yannick Rödl walked us through the impact of questions in our daily work – whether with clients, colleagues, or even future partners. As the saying goes, “Who asks, leads the conversation.” 💡 This was just one of many examples of how we use our offsites to present and discuss valuable topics beyond software development. And after all the questions were asked, we capped off the first day with some high-speed e-kart racing. 🏎️♻️ It was huge fun and the perfect metaphor for how we work: moving fast while staying environmentally conscious. ⚡ The rest of our 2-day offsite was packed with discussions on internal topics and deep dives into our customer projects. My colleague Christoph Thale wrote another Azure Data Explorer Blog Post about „Follower Databases“.   With a follower cluster, you can provision additional compute for your read-only tasks without compromising the primary, or 'lead', cluster. If you have read-heavy analytics jobs for a subset of your data, a follower cluster might be the solution.   While implementing a follower cluster will inevitably bump up your costs, you can swiftly decommission these clusters if necessary, offering a balance between performance and expenditure.   To prevent accidental deletions of your lead cluster with Terraform, Christoph shows a workaround with a Powershell script.
