📣 𝐄𝐔 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐕 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 – 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐕 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬! To foster the expansion of recharging infrastructure for electric vehicles, the EU has already published regulations for both public recharging points (via the AFIR) and for private ones (via the EPBD). ❓ But are the EV chargers on the European market sustainable enough? 🔎 To shed light on this issue, the European Commission has launched an Ecodesign preparatory study to investigate how recharging points could be made more sustainable and which regulatory requirements would be appropriate. (https://lnkd.in/e9rm3NyZ) Possible policy options (within the framework of the new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation) may include: ➡ Minimum energy performance requirements for more energy-efficient EV chargers ➡ Requirements for reparability, durability and upgradability/modularity to extend lifetime and facilitate maintenance ➡ Energy labelling to improve market transparency ➡ Green Public Procurement ➡ Functional requirements such as capability for bidirectional charging or dynamic load management ❗ Are you a manufacturer or supplier of EV chargers, a CPO or MSP? Do you want to be part of the process that will transform the market towards more sustainable EV chargers, bringing benefits to consumers and the whole value chain? Then take part now and become an active stakeholder ❗ 👉 Register here to comment on our reports and attend the next stakeholder meeting: https://lnkd.in/eEZCMHXU 🖇 The presentations and results of the last stakeholder meeting, which took place on 25 June, can be found here: https://lnkd.in/e4xSMePc ❗ Share your feedback on the first draft report (https://lnkd.in/e9duXDDV) with us and help shape the future framework conditions for EV chargers in the EU (deadline is 23 July). 🆕 Optimizing fast-charging infrastructure for electric trucks in Europe 🚛🔋 Our new study in collaboration with Amazon indicates that just 1,000 strategically located megawatt charging system (MCS) outlets could support 91% of Europe's expected long-haul truck traffic by 2030. The research team analyzed 20,000 potential charging locations and 1.6 million truck trip combinations. Key results: ➡ 1,000 publicly accessible charging locations could cover almost all electric truck traffic in Europe. ➡ 500 locations could manage about half of electric truck flows. ➡ Charging hubs should be located at major intersections and corridors along high-traffic routes. Most surprising: The number of suggested locations is smaller than the minimum infrastructure targets required by the European Union. Dr. Patrick Plötz highlights the need for fewer but higher power stations: »A strategically planned megawatt charging network could significantly support the adoption of battery electric trucks in Europe, reducing the need for depot charging and lowering overall costs.« This research emphasizes the importance of accelerating the development and adoption of megawatt charging systems to support the transition to sustainable transportation. ℹ See the press release: https://lnkd.in/enZ75KHe 🔗 Read the full study: https://lnkd.in/ehZKgzHp 🗺 Open source data: https://lnkd.in/ekHF2t9p #Battery #SustainableTransport #ElectricTrucks #GreenLogistics #FraunhoferISI #AmazonEurope #Amazon #MegawattCharging #MCS #FutureOfTransport #HoLa Amazon | Amazon Science | Patrick Plötz | Daniel Speth | Jan-Hendrik Lange | Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr
