🌍 An assistance system for heart valve repair: On World Heart Day 2024, we present the innovative assistance system MINIMAKI. This AI-powered system revolutionizes the planning of heart valve repairs and supports interdisciplinary heart teams through Mixed Reality. Heart failure, often caused by defective heart valves, is one of the most common hospital treatments in Germany. Heart valve reconstruction is a highly complex operation that requires significant experience. MINIMAKI enables precise surgical planning by simulating procedures on a #digitalTwin. Using #MachineLearning, 4D image datasets are analyzed and transferred into a dynamic biometric model. This allows for a 3D representation of not only the patient’s heart but also the contraction of the heart muscle, the movement of the valve leaflets, and the flow of blood. Surgeons can overlay and select implants using #MixedReality on the heart model. With features like a digital device library and team discussion capabilities in a Mixed Hololens environment, MINIMAKI also supports the training of young doctors. The goal is to enhance the quality of heart valve repairs and make complex procedures safer. 👉 #PressRelease: https://s.fhg.de/EU8E Anja Hennemuth @Miguel Rasteiro Simoes Bernardes @Jörg Kempfert PD Dr. med. 👉 #Pressemitteilung: https://s.fhg.de/884 Anja Hennemuth @Miguel Rasteiro Simoes Bernardes @Jörg Kempfert PD Dr. med.
