Recently, three members of our NBS team at FORLIANCE, Anna Peters, Konrad Hentze, and Hanna Große, visited our project site in Zambia, where droughts and unsustainable land use practices are having a noticeable impact on the environment. These challenges highlight the urgent need for sustainable solutions that can protect ecosystems and enhance the resilience of local communities. Our project in Zambia uses the Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) model, an approach that empowers farmers to restore their land by promoting the natural regrowth of native trees. Land degradation has significantly reduced agricultural productivity, threatening the livelihoods of local communities. FMNR helps increase biodiversity, improve resilience to extreme weather, and boost crop yields by restoring degraded farmland and pastures. During our visit, we collaborated closely with local communities and our project partners, including World Vision Zambia and World Vision Australia, to ensure the project continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
