Info
Escape Climate Change Initiative (ECCI) is a European Erasmus project that aims to raise awareness and encourage action among pupils, teachers, student teachers and administrative staff through an innovative pedagogical initiative based on an escape game. The aim is to facilitate the cooperation of the participants to co-create real concrete solutions to the problems identified. Following this structure, the aim is to ensure awareness of climate change among students and teachers, as well as to facilitate the understanding of the causes and effects of climate change as an interconnected system across the whole ECCI project. This European project will be developed and tested in four countries: Germany, France, Spain and Italy, in 9 schools, reaching 18 teachers, 18 administrative staff and 855 pupils. ECCI project will especially target pupils, teachers, teacher students, and ANE-staff of secondary schools to support awareness raising among pupils and grow their sense of empowerment while including them in the creation process along this project.

Climate Wardens is the digital version of the escape game. "The City is suffering from climate change. But not everything's lost. Together with his city council, the Mayor decided to summon four representatives of the major stakeholders of the city and open a call to action to the youngsters to gather and find a solution: the Teenagers’ City Council. You're going to start a new game from chapter 0. Are you sure?". This is the beginning of the game... Would you like to jump in? Play the game at: https://lnkd.in/drvt-jgw The development of the games is funded by the European Union's Erasmus programme. The research and development of the technical content has been carried out by the Universität zu Köln, the Association Bilan Carbone and Design for Change España. ‘Beat the Heat’ is an escape game proposed by the ECCI Consortium (Escape Climate Change Initiative) as a classroom activity to help teachers familiarise their students with the issues of ecological transition and climate change. To bridge the digital divide, this game is accessible and flexible to adapt to any classroom setting. Specifically, this version of the game is designed to be played entirely on paper and does not require rearrangement of desks and chairs. The game is aimed at students aged 14-16. It addresses political and infrastructural issues of mobility, housing and urban green spaces in the context of a fictional European city. The learning objectives of the game are to familiarise players with policy proposals in these three thematic areas and to provoke an analysis of the political feasibility of each of these proposals. The development of Beat the Heat is funded by the European Union's Erasmus programme. The research and development of the technical content has been carried out by the Universität zu Köln, the Association Bilan Carbone and Design for Change España. The physical escape game has been created by Studio Rev(e), formerly BIO SENTINELLE (en rebranding). The game website has been created by Università Politecnica delle Marche, and Melazeta srl is currently developing a digital version of the escape game.
