𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴? 4 compelling reasons underline why automated charging is a prerequisite for a sustainable, connected, and smart future. 𝟭 Automated charging is a key enabling technology for a 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 ☀️💨 ⚡️ Flexibility and automation are crucial for successfully rolling out vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (#V2G) applications. Our electric grids require flexibility to match green energy demand and supply. We can easily balance the volatility of renewable energy by stabilizing the grid with our #EV use and charging behavior. EVs, with their batteries, offer the possibility to store larger quantities of energy. For a smart grid to work, we need to connect EVs as often and for as long as possible. To achieve this, we need to make the driver's charging process as smooth and easy as possible. The solution is automated charging. The car is connected whenever parked with #MatrixCharging. 𝟮 Automated charging is a key enabling technology for the 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 vehicles in 𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 🏙️ Hands-free and automated charging are essential for urban charging infrastructure. Space in urban areas is limited and extremely costly. Currently, EVs represent less than 2% of vehicle fleets worldwide. Thinking of e-mobility today includes the image of charging poles and cables hanging around in our minds. By 2050, more than 50% of global fleets are expected to be electrified. The need for a non-invasive charging infrastructure is clear. The solution is integrating the charging infrastructure into the ground, especially into parking spots, where no additional space is needed. This means that cars need to be charged from the bottom, which is not accessible for manual charging. The solution for that is automated charging. 𝟯 Automated charging is a prerequisite for the advancement of 🚗 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 The rollout of autonomous driving functions for EVs also requires automated charging as another key function. Automated charging becomes a must-have feature as soon as an EV parks itself fully automatically. No one would go after a self-driving EV to plug it in manually. Autonomous parking just works with automated charging. The EV is connected whenever parked with Matrix Charging. 𝟰 Automated charging relieves the driver from the burden of charging to enable a 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝗿 EV drivers must be relieved from handling charging cables and cards for greater acceptance of e-mobility. The evolution of cars is full of examples of automation such as electric windows. All these innovations put the users at the center and alleviate them from burdensome activities. Automated charging is a key element for a truly user-centric car. The 4 reasons just explained will reinforce each other 💡. Automated charging is a central technology of the car of the future.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴? 🚚 The number of electric trucks on the road is already growing: In 2023, new electric truck registrations increased by more than 200% over 2022, 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭,𝟱𝟴𝟬 𝘁𝗼 𝟱,𝟮𝟳𝟵 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The reason their growth is so encouraging is that they locally produce zero emissions. The cost-efficiency of electric trucks is also increasing as technology develops. The consensus from global studies is that decreases in truck purchase prices due to battery cost reduction and lower truck operating costs will drive significant total cost of ownership decreases before 2030. ⏱️ Moreover, since EU law makes a 45 minute truck break every 4.5 hours mandatory for drivers, a 1MW charger can fully charge a typical electric truck within 45 minutes, meaning fleet operators don’t have to sacrifice efficiencies, given the right charging infrastructure. For all these reasons, the transition is happening right now. So, do you have a charging or battery management software solution, a battery storage solution, or another e-mobility software solution that needs funding? We’d love to hear from you. 📄 Or learn more about accelerating the transition to electric trucks in our new blog post: https://lnkd.in/ec92xHpY Source of the new medium truck and heavy truck registrations: https://lnkd.in/e9EVc8Qh #eTruckENV

🔋 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? Battery monitoring software is key to making batteries more predictable, efficient, and safe and should not be overlooked. Solutions to increase battery sustainability are also important. While electric trucks produce zero tailpipe emissions and can be run powered by renewable energy from the grid, recycling the batteries that power these trucks is important and will grow strongly in the coming years. However, while some areas are thriving, much of the battery ecosystem needs additional funding. Clearly, there are many opportunities available in the battery industry. That's why we decided to invest in volytica diagnostics. volytica diagnostics specializes in battery diagnostics for mobile and stationary energy storage systems. The company's mission is to create value for the end user by making battery systems safer, more efficient and more sustainable. With the help of its innovative automated analysis software and collected field data, volytica provides a new level of visibility into battery health, including for e-truck batteries. This also pays off for owners. “The longer the battery remains in an optimal state of health, the more economical it is for the vehicle owner, whether it is a leasing company or the vehicle/truck as a service provider.” says volytica founder Claudius Jehle. With increasing legislative pressure to accelerate the energy transition and new technologies unlocking greater benefits in batteries, now is a good time to invest. So, do you have a charging or battery management software solution, a battery storage solution, or another e-mobility software solution that needs funding? We’d love to hear from you. #eTruckENV #FutureOfTransport #BatteryStorage #EMobility

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? 🚚🔋 A major challenge in transitioning to electric trucks is ensuring the grid can supply the necessary power. Studies indicate that by 2035, each highway service station in Germany will need to offer at least 30 MW to meet the demand for electric trucks and passenger EVs. Medium-voltage connections, with a maximum capacity of around 25 MW, are insufficient for future e-mobility needs. High-voltage connections, enabling over 100 MW of charging power, will be essential for supporting the growing fleets of electric trucks. ⚡ However, upgrading the grid is a slow process. Martin Konermann, Managing Director of EnBW’s network operator Netze BW GmbH, emphasizes the urgency of building the necessary grid connections now to support the future increase in electric trucks: "Taking into account eight years of planning and approval and two years of construction time, a high-voltage power connection with the associated charging park takes approximately 10 years to implement. Now is the time to build the necessary charging infrastructure along highways." The transition to electric trucks is not just about the vehicles but also about ensuring our infrastructure is ready to support them. Now is the time to invest in both grid upgrades and innovative solutions like battery storage to pave the way for a sustainable future. 👇 Want to find out more about the electric truck transition? EnBW New Ventures usually invests directly in #startups but occasionally uses "fund of funds" #investments for strategic reasons. https://lnkd.in/eBvTbK8s This is another good example of how experienced #CVC investors use LP positions in #VC funds very intentionally. More on that trend here: https://lnkd.in/eABbY-4d Congratulations Crispin Leick on another interesting tie-up!
