Dal punto di vista del consumo, in Europa il ciclo di vita dei prodotti tessili ha in media il quarto più alto impatto negativo sull'ambiente e sui cambiamenti climatici, dopo l'alimentazione, l'abitazione e la mobilità. Grazie al lavoro dei nostri colleghi dell’R&D, sappiamo che le basse temperature di lavaggio e i cicli brevi possono contribuire a prolungare la durata dei tessuti, oltre ad essere caratteristiche sempre più richieste dai consumatori che desiderano una maggiore flessibilità per effettuare vari carichi ogni settimana. Abbiamo quindi sviluppato uno speciale sistema che premiscela e distribuisce in modo uniforme il detersivo e l’ammorbidente prima che arrivino nel cestello, garantendo così un utilizzo efficace delle risorse e risultati eccezionali. ⏱️È da qui che è nata UltraQuick 59/49/39min, la funzione che consente la rimozione completa di oltre 50 macchie comuni a 30°C e con un ciclo della durata inferiore a un'ora. 🔎Curiosi?     In 2023, 60% of our total energy came from renewable sources. Energy efficiency and the shift toward renewable energy drives our efforts to reduce the climate impact of our operations. To help us achieve this, we generate our own renewable electricity from solar photovoltaic systems (solar panels). We have sites with solar panels in Italy, Thailand, Australia, China, South Africa, Mexico and Sweden. In 2023, with the help of these systems we avoided greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 5,000 metric tons of CO2e by producing around 10 GWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the annual electricity needs of about 40,000 refrigerators. Our first solar power purchase agreement (PPA) was also approved with a system being installed this year at the Porcia factory in Italy. Our fossil fuel usage also improved by 13% in 2023, with a roadmap to phase out the use of fossils fuels by 2033. Energy efficiency and the shift toward renewable energy drives Electrolux Group’s efforts to reduce the climate impact of its operations. Since 2021, the Group has reduced its carbon dioxide footprint by 33% toward the objective to reduce emissions from operations by 85% by 2030. With this new target, Electrolux Group will achieve a 97% carbon emissions reduction in scope 1 and 2 by 2030 compared with 2015. The work continues.     As a leading company in sustainability, we want to contribute to sustainable urban development. Greenhouse Sthlm will be a new green neighborhood around our HQ in Stockholm, Sweden where up to 3000 people will live, work and meet on a daily basis.   The neighborhood will as a start include 114 sustainable lifestyle homes built mainly with wood to reduce CO2 emissions. The roof will be covered with solar panels, and green open spaces shared by residents will improve biodiversity.     Our Electrolux brand is launching its smartest range of laundry appliances in Europe.   Features include: ▪ The new SmartSelect function available on selected washing machines, washer dryers and tumble dryers which adjusts the washing/drying cycle and temperature based on needs, saving time and energy.    ▪ The new SmartSave function in the 900 series tumble dryers gives consumers the choice between faster drying time or lower energy consumption.   ▪ Low wash temperatures and short cycles are also in demand. Consumers can now run a 30 degree cycle, UltraQuick, in 39 minutes in selected washing machines in the 900 series.   “In 2020, textile consumption in Europe had on average the fourth highest impact on the environment,” comments sarah schaefer, Vice President Sustainability for Europe and APMEA at Electrolux Group. “Extending clothing life by just nine months delivers significant benefits but we want to help consumers go further.     Our North American team has been working hard to electrify their fleet of forklift trucks used to move materials one from manufacturing plant to another. The result? 95% of the fleet is now electrified with the fleet to be fully electrified in the next six years.   This is another important step toward our goal to reduce 97% of carbon emissions in operations by 2030.   Watch the film to learn more.     We proudly showcased our brands, AEG and Electrolux, for the very first time at prestigious international design event Design Shanghai – held in June with the aim to explore how Eastern and Western design philosophies can work together. Our exhibition highlighted a century of modern European design and emphasized how household appliances can contribute to a more sustainable home environment. AEG and Electrolux both presented their unique design aesthetics — AEG with its German Bauhaus-inspired simplicity and Electrolux with its Scandinavian, sustainable style. Meanwhile, our VP Sustainability for Europe, APMEA sarah schaefer delivered a keynote about AI and sustainability at Design Shanghai’s Sustainable Design Summit.     🏆 Our Electrolux brand's Pure 900 Series Air Purifier Humidifier has won Product of the Year at the 2024 Plastics Recycling Awards Europe! The product is made with 98% recycled fabric and up to 60.6% recycled plastic with no paint. Winning in the Automotive, Electrical or Electronic Product category, the product was highly praised by judges for the high percentage of post-consumer recycled content used in a well-designed and multifunctional way. Earlier this year, the product also won a Red Dot Design Award. “When we started this project we set out to create our best air purifier with the lowest environmental impact possible. We focused on creating a calm, timeless design that will live for a long time irrespective of changing trends. The materials are honest and treated in a way to bring out the best of them all. This is a well-deserved award for the project team's hard work," says Senior Design Lead Air Care, Martin Alexanderson.     We’re very proud to be recognized as one of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies in TIME's inaugural sustainability ranking. We are ranked 89 out of the 500 companies from around the world that made the list. The world’s 5,000 leading companies, from various sectors, went through a rigorous assessment process. Time explains that the companies at the top of the list (including us) have signed on to some of the most respected climate programs including the 1.5°C target from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), received high scores from CDP and have incorporated sustainability into their business models. The assessment not only included environmental sustainability criteria such as emissions targets and energy efficiency, but also social sustainability such as employee diversity and work safety.   “This recognition means a lot to us and we remain committed to continue our journey to reduce our carbon footprint according to science, as well as caring for people around us," says Elena Breda, our Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer.   Earlier this year, we were also named one of Europe’s Climate Leaders by the Financial Times.
