The aircraft joins DHLs fleet as youngest conversion freighter and is the 🎉 15th A330-300P2F re-delivery to our customer! After painting, the aircraft will be operated by AHK Air Hong Kong Ltd in Asia. The A330P2F marks number 42 conversion freighter of Elbe Flugzeugwerkes wide body conversion program. Today, the Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Affairs, Dr. Volker Wissing, visited EFW. Together with Torsten Herbst, member of the German Bundestag and chairman of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure as well as further members of the delegation, Minister Wissing has been introduced to the Airbus freighter conversion in Dresden and received information on the air cargo market and on latest developments. At EFW, the team of aviation experts does regularly refresh its specialist knowledge through trainings. For this purpose, we work with several partners. If it comes to EASA part-66 type trainings or specific trainings on aircraft structures and on composites we have been working with a leading provider in the field of aviation technology, with Lufthansa Technical Training GmbH (LTT), for a decade. We are very pleased to extend this trustful and long-standing partnership with a framework agreement with LTT until 2027. This will support us best to ensure that the teams in the production and maintenance areas have all the necessary qualifications. Around 20 training courses take place at EFW every year, and team members taking part are best qualified receiving a certificate after successful participation. A weighty undertaking! When we move aircraft to the next manufacturing step in our facility, our team is called upon. We usually move 5 aircraft meaning in total over 622 tons.   The future A330 freighter are towed out of the hangar to swap places being towed back to the next production phase at a different hangar position. This requires the utmost concentration, precision, and know-how from all our team involved.   The aircraft with a wingspan of some 60 meters and a length of around 63 meters, are moved from their 'stress-free' positions and later aligned and positioned with millimeter precision in the new parking space. We were very happy to have met and welcomed our A330P2F customer Altavair, along with their end-customer, Amazon a few days ago. For some of the team members it was the first time to visit our conversion facilities here in Dresden, Germany.   Both partners received a guided tour at our hangars and reviewed the progress and status of the currently ongoing A330P2F conversion projects for Amazon in Germany.   Amazon Air received its first Airbus P2F aircraft in October 2023, stating: “These A330s aren't just the first of their kind in our fleet. Cute outside, strong inside! Since the start of operation we support all Beluga aircraft with numerous composite products. Our products for all Airbus designed aircraft range from 2D floor panel up to complex cabin modules like crew rest compartments and are known to be lightweight but at the same time very stable and long living. Like in other freighter aircraft and in lower cargo decks of passenger aircraft, the cargo linings of the BelugaXL are exposed to environmental influences and there is a risk of damages during daily operations. Accordingly, main deck cargo linings with an increased robustness and a high performance are supplied by EFW to support the entire BelugaXL fleet. How ISTAT Freighter Forum, ACDC and thunderstorms are linked? We had all three 😎in town in Dresden - at the same time. EFW provided facility tours exclusively for ISTAT members (sorry Angus Young, Brian Johnson, and band colleagues) which have been received very well. Some tour participants struggled a bit arriving in time due to detours and delays of ✈️ planes because of thunderstorms. However, we have been lucky to welcome some 60 participants ranging from OEMs like Boeing and Embraer through leasing companies like Avolon or Stratos up to market players like Rolls-Royce, Mammoth Freighters, Precision Aircraft Solutions and several airlines. Visitors received insights into our A330P2F aircraft conversion by our experts. Tour guides entered with groups our main hangar as well as several freighters in the structural phase, installation phase and in the test phase ready converted. This provided a good overview on our work and how thoroughly Airbus aircraft are modified for the new configuration as freighter. Our Team will join an important conference: the ISTAT Freighter Forum taking place on 20th June 2024 for the first time in Germany, Dresden. ISTAT is the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading with some 5.000 members worldwide which are involved in producing, maintaining, operating, selling, purchasing, financing, leasing, appraising and in further activities related to the commercial aircraft sector. In Dresden, some 150 ISTAT members including representatives of OEMs like Airbus, Embraer or Boeing, participants of some of the largest aircraft leasing companies like AerCap or BBAM are going to join the event. On top, 28 airlines will use this network opportunity for exchanging and discussing multiple topics on current and future freighter. Rekordbeteiligung! Gestern hat unser EFW Team mit 452 Läuferinnen und Läufern in Dresden an einem der größten Laufevents Deutschlands teilgenommen - der Rewe Team Challenge. Wir waren damit die 2. stärkste Gruppe! EFW hat eine Startwelle unterstützt und durfte allen 5.000 Sportlerinnen und Sportlern voran diese eröffen - ein tolles Erlebnis. Ab da hiess es: Flugzeuge ✈ überall ✈ - in der Innenstadt Dresdens und im Stadion. Unter Jubel liefen alle ins Ziel ein. Einige EFW Teams sicherten Spitzenplätze - so eins unserer Mixed Team, das Platz 17 unter tausenden Teams erreichen konnte! Am Ende gab es viele glückliche Gesichter, besonders auch beim Sonnenstrahl e.V., denn unser CFO Kai Mielenz konnte im Namen des Unternehmens eine Spende überreichen. Das Laufevent klang bei tollem Teamspirit und gemütlichem Beisammensein für uns aus. Einen herzlichen Dank an die Organisatoren und alle die unterstütz haben, auf das nächste Mal.
