In infectious disease research, understanding the interactions between pathogens and their host is of particular importance. At Dynamic42, we have put strong emphasis on developing infection models that faithfully reproduce the complex mechanisms underlying infectious diseases. In our latest application note, we detail the set-up and quantitative analysis of an immunocompetent human lung infection model with Aspergillus fumigatus.

#EUROoCS2024 in Milano has come to end, the Dynamic42 team is back home in Jena, but we are still full of the excitement of this wonderful event. We would like to pass on a huge thank you to the organizers and specifically to the conference chairs Marco Rasponi & Paola Occhetta for this amazing event. It was very exciting to see so many familiar faces and to meet new, interesting contacts during this week. We were overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received with respect to our newly launched #DynamicOrgan System and the large number of visitors at our booth. For more information: https://lnkd.in/eB_DfiqJ During our talk and poster session there was a lot of interaction and scientific discussions at the posters presented by Martin Raasch, Anne-Katrin Bothe (cooperation with Sylvie Kliebers group at Sanofi), Sophie Besser and Mai Hoang. Our PhD student Tim Kaden had the great honor to present his work on a colitis-on-chip model conducted in cooperation with Alexander Mosig's group from Universitätsklinikum Jena in a talk. We are taking a lot of scientific inspiration home with us and are looking forward to many new collaborations in the future. See you all next year in Brussels!

Last week, I represented Proefdiervrij at a masterclass on gut-related organ-on-chips organized by AZAR Innovations. We got to meet experts in the field and learned how to select the right system to address specific research questions. The hands-on troubleshooting sessions and demonstrations with commercial systems were fun and informative! If you're considering using organ-on-chips for your gut-related research, I highly recommend this masterclass. It’s a great way to start exploring animal-free technologies.

#EUROoCS2024 is in full swing, and so we would like to dive a bit deeper into the research we are presenting at this year’s event. Our scientists are presenting on topics such as a DSS-induced colitis-on-chip model, a liver-on-chip model for antibody validation, predictive modelling for brain-targeted therapeutics, a PDMS-free intestine-on-chip with real-time oxygen monitoring and a bronchus-on-chip for Aspergillosis research. a joint project between Dynamic42 GmbH, Bayer and ESQlabs GmbH presented by Dr. Christian Maass on a three-organ-model for next-gen prediction of pharmacokinetics in pregnancy.
