Ein zweites KI-Zentrum ist bereits in Planung! 💪 Die KI-Zentren sind Teil unserer MISSION KI – einer breiten Initiative zur Förderung der KI-Entwicklung bei uns im Land. "Die Mission KI hat zum Ziel, die digitale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der deutschen Wirtschaft zu stärken. Das soll unter anderem dadurch erfolgen, dass sich Gründer, #Startups und Unternehmen in den KI-Zentren beraten lassen können, inwieweit die von ihnen entwickelten KI-Anwendungen vertrauenswürdig sind", so Wissing. 💡 Unsere Mission KI entwickelt und erprobt außerdem einen freiwilligen Qualitätsstandard für KI „Made in Germany“. Dieser Standard steht für Verlässlichkeit, hohe Datenqualität, Datenschutz & Transparenz.

MISSION KI – Neues Innovations- und Qualitätszentrum am DFKI eröffnet Bundesdigitalminister Dr. Volker Wissing hat heute gemeinsam mit der rheinland-pfälzischen Wirtschaftsministerin Daniela Schmitt ein neues #KI-Innovations- und Qualitätszentrum am DFKI in Kaiserslautern eröffnet. Das neu eröffnete Zentrum ist Teil der Initiative MISSION KI und das erste von zwei geplanten Zentren in Deutschland, mit denen die Bundesregierung den Einsatz von vertrauenswürdiger KI vorantreibt. Das KI-Zentrum von MISSION KI wird gemeinsam von acatech – Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften und dem DFKI betrieben. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt auf der Entwicklung von Prüfverfahren für KI-Anwendungen, um Vertrauen in diese Technologie zu stärken. Beratung und zukünftige Prüfbegleitung werden ergänzt durch Workshops zum Kompetenzaufbau, Wissenstransfer und die Stärkung der regionalen KI-Community. Schwerpunkt auf KI im Gesundheitsbereich Der Schwerpunkt des neuen Zentrums wird zunächst auf dem Einsatz von KI im Gesundheitsbereich liegen – auch aufgrund der starken Präsenz von Unternehmen und Forschungseinrichtungen aus Medizin, Pharma und Biotechnologie in der Region. Das DFKI wird Werkzeuge zur Bewertung der Qualität medizinischer KI-Systeme und zu deren Verbesserung erarbeiten, die bereits im frühen Entwicklungsprozess ansetzen und die spezifischen Anforderungen von Gesundheits- oder Hochrisikoanwendungen berücksichtigen. Die Erprobung erfolgt anhand von konkreten Anwendungsfällen, wie Erkennung von Hautkrebs oder sichere Intubation. Zudem sollen von MISSION KI entwickelte Qualitäts- & Prüfstandards Anwendung finden. Das Zentrum ist jedoch nicht auf den medizinischen Bereich beschränkt, sondern steht Innovatoren aus allen Branchen offen. Die Einrichtung des KI-Zentrums in Kaiserslautern ist Teil der MISSION KI – einer breiteren Initiative zur Förderung der KI-Entwicklung in Deutschland. Mit einem Gesamtbudget von 32 Millionen Euro, finanziert durch das Bundesdigitalministerium, soll MISSION KI den Innovationsstandort stärken und die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit deutscher Unternehmen im Bereich KI fördern. Ein zweites Zentrum soll bis Jahresende in Berlin entstehen. „Mit dem KI-Zentrum in Kaiserslautern schaffen wir eine Brücke zwischen Forschung und praktischer Anwendung. Hier können innovative Ideen entstehen und KI-Anwendungen einem Qualitätscheck unterzogen werden. Unternehmen erhalten konkrete Hilfe, um Risiken von KI frühzeitig einzuschätzen – auch im Hinblick auf EU-Vorgaben. Damit wollen wir die Entwicklung von vertrauenswürdiger KI ‚Made-in-Germany´ fördern und deutschen Unternehmen den Rücken stärken. Rheinland-Pfalz ist mit seiner dynamischen KI- und Biotech-Szene der ideale Standort. Personenbezogene Daten sind ein wahrer Schatz für die KI-Forschung, insbesondere in der Medizin. Da sie jedoch sehr persönliche Informationen enthalten, sind sie gesetzlich besonders geschützt. Mit SEMLA – Secure Machine Learning Architecture – hat das DFKI nun eine interne Forschungsinfrastruktur für das Training neuronaler Netze mit hochsensiblen Daten geschaffen. 🚀 #Curious2024 #FutureInsightConference Recap 🚀 The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (#DFKI) had the honor of participating in the Curious 2024 Future Insight Conference in Mainz, and it was an incredible experience! One of the highlights was the captivating talk by Marc Raibert, founder of #BostonDynamics about their new AI lab for robotics. Additionally, Dr. Robert Langer from #MIT provided invaluable insights into what it takes to bring innovative ideas to market readiness. To offer insights into the multifaceted world of AI and its potential to revolutionize the life sciences, Andreas Dengel, Executive Director of DFKI, shared his keynote with the audience on Thursday. The “Ask me Anything”-Discussion afterward opened the possibility to address specific questions surrounding the field of #biomedicine and how AI contributes to improving data analysis and diagnostics. The conference was not only a platform for knowledge sharing, but also an opportunity to experience the excellent organization and beautiful venue. After an engaging opening by Ulrich Betz, the #Curious2024 #FutureInsightConference has finally started. Between Wednesday, 10th of July and Thursday, 11th of July, the selected ensemble of the world’s leading scientists and innovators will deliver insights into their scientific work, provide workshops, and raise the curtains on what is to come. Andreas Dengel, Executive Director of the #DFKI (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence) in Kaiserslautern and Professor for Artificial Intelligence at the Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), will be joining in with his highly decorated colleagues on Thursday. "AI relies on high-quality data to uncover deep insights into patterns and correlations. In my presentation tomorrow, I will draw on examples from ophthalmology and dermatology, as well as the analysis of gene sequences and cell cultures, to demonstrate how AI is currently transforming the life sciences. This includes advancements in both data generation and diagnostic capabilities."
