A full battery in minutes for the FUSO eCanter? 🚛🔋   No problem! We've started testing battery-swapping, paired with a dynamic lease, as an upcoming addition to our "Green Lease" solution portfolio for customers in Japan! This comprehensive and hassle-free package offers a seamless transition to e-mobility, including financial solutions that cover maintenance, insurance, charging infrastructure, subsidy consultation, truck registration, and a streamlined monthly invoicing system.   Together with our colleagues from Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, we've begun testing EV truck battery-swapping on public roads in Kyoto, Japan, for our customer Yamato Logistics (HK) Ltd. at Ample swapping station. From theory 📚 to practice 📢! Together with our colleagues from Daimler Truck AG we invited communication and marketing students from Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart, Universität Hohenheim and Hochschule Pforzheim - Gestaltung, Technik, Wirtschaft und Recht to our annual COM Camp at our headquarters. The participants not only gained insights into the communications department of a global company but also into the daily business of Daimler Truck Financial Services. ☝️ And it was not only them who learned a lot. 💡 Their elaboration of a case study also provided valuable input for us. It was invigorating to see the blend of academic curiosity and practical know-how. This morning, Daimler Truck AG informed the capital market about the financial results for the second quarter of 2024 – including the financial figures of Daimler Truck Financial Services.   The expectation of higher credit losses in the North American market, combined with increased equity to cater for future growth, resulted in a lower adjusted Return on Equity of 1.8 percent compared to last year’s 11.4 percent. The adjusted EBIT decreased year-on-year from 65 to 12 million euros.   With market conditions still challenging, we made progress in evolving DTFS into a full-service commercial vehicle solutions company. This includes our activities to provide charging infrastructure and new intelligent service offerings. We increased our new business volume. It rose by 19 percent to 3.0 billion euros compared with the previous year. Welcome Kevin Bangston! 👍 We are very happy to announce that Kevin Bangston has been appointed to the position of President and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services North America, effective September 1, 2024. He is currently President and CEO of Thomas Built Buses and Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation. In his new position he will be responsible for DTFS in the USA, Canada and Mexico. He will become a member of the global DTFS Executive Committee and the Daimler Truck North America Operations Committee and lead the DTFS North America ExCom. Kevin has over 25 years of experience in the transportation industry and is well-equipped to lead the DTFS North American business into the next era. He started his career at Daimler Truck North America in 2001 working in corporate finance. His success in various roles led to international leadership positions in Germany, Indonesia and Japan. Kevin succeeds Richard Howard who has decided to retire after a successful career at Daimler Truck North America and Daimler Truck Financial Services. Did you know? Daimler's first commercial vehicles, which back then operated under the name Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, had transported beer. The venerable Daimler Motoren-Lastwagen from 1898 carried twelve beer barrels, each containing around 60 litres, to inns in the nearby surroundings. 🍻 With all due respect for the legend: The Mercedes-Benz eActros 400, of which the Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus AG has recently added five to its fleet via our colleagues from Daimler Truck Financial Services Deutschland, can definitely quench the thirst of so many more. It reaches its destination faster and more reliable and the best about it: the full-electric eActros is charged with green power and thus environmentally friendly! 🚛🔋 The German brewery based in the Black Forest purchased the trucks in combination with our "Service Leasing" solution which combines all the advantages of truck leasing with extensive services such as maintenance, repair and telematics services from Mercedes-Benz Uptime. We have a spy in our ranks! 😉 But no worries! In this case we are talking about a friendly spy. To be more specific, it's about our colleague Francesca Nette from the communications department at our headquarters who did job shadowing with our colleagues from HR. Francesca got to know the various aspects of the HR department like Learning & Development, People & Culture as well the topics of an HR Business Partner. 👍 "I encourage everyone to make usage of the opportunities given at DTFS to grow and develop further!", she says after this experience. What is Job Shadowing? 👉 Job shadowing is a type of on-the-job training that allows an interested employee to follow and closely observe another employee performing the role. At DTFS, we offer this opportunity to all our employees at all locations. It not only helps to broaden one's horizon and get a better understanding for processes inside the company but also marks a great opportunity of networking across departments. Learning more about and using AI properly in our daily work is transforming the financial industry! Therefore we had organized AI awareness sessions for our colleagues. Sweating for a good cause! 👍 This week we had a different work day than usual at our headquarters in Leinfelden-Echterdingen: instead of spending the day in front of computer screens and in meetings, 50 colleagues headed to the Aktivspielplatz Musberg in the immediate neighborhood for our annual Social Day. We spread 40 tons of sand and created a beach area next to the lake on the 8,000 square meter playground for children and young people which is overseen with an educational focus. Besides that, we built several bridges and a raft out of wood. 💪 And we also make a donation to support the important work of the staff. Our Social Day is part of our global social and sustainability initiative "TeamUp4Good" under which we bundle all our corporate citizenship activities in our 16 markets. 💚 An ongoing relationship with our neighborhood is very important to us, which is why this was already the third project at our headquarters. Although it was a hard piece of work our colleagues enjoyed the day outdoors to the fullest, especially as it was for a good cause.
