🌏😍 We are expanding our international team! We are thrilled to welcome our newest #ClimateActionHero, Strategy and Marketing intern, Keegan Ng, from sunny Singapore 🇸🇬! We are excited to have him with us here in Hamburg, Germany.   Keegan joins us from Singapore Management University (SMU), where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management and is approaching his senior year. Under the guidance of Professor Winston Chow, Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group II, Keegan has honed his understanding of the intricate web of #climate issues and the urgency of #innovative climate solutions, which pivoted him to intern with us.   COLIPI's liaison with Singapore started in 2023 with being invited to The Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition with Gabrielle Tan Lay Khim from SMU and #SLINGSHOT from Enterprise Singapore. This recognition highlighted our commitment to developing sustainable solutions and showcases our innovative approach on a global stage.   Keegan: “I am very appreciative to have the opportunity to gain exposure in the European markets on sustainability while using my skills in marketing and strategy. I believe COLIPI is at the forefront of alternative palm oil production, enabling its application in the cosmetics, aviation fuel, and food industries. Two standout moments made the event particularly memorable: 1️⃣ The panel discussion moderated by Dr. Nik Raupp was absolutely captivating. Did you know that in 1859, one of the world's first commercial ⛽️ oil wells was drilled in Wietze, near Hanover, Germany? In less than 200 years, crude oil and other fossil fuels have set us on 🥵 a trajectory toward global warming and a “semi-dystopian” future, as The Guardian puts it (links in comments). Reaching the 1.5°C climate goal is now unlikely, with a 2.5°C increase being more probable. At COLIPI, we are dedicated to transforming carbon dioxide and other renewable carbon sources into carbon-light Climate Oil. Angèle: "After developing my skills in biology alongside my training in #chemistry at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, I wanted to gain practical experience and apply my skills to a cause important to me: #protecting the #environment. COLIPI's mission to convert CO2 into sustainable alternatives to vegetable oils using microorganisms allows me to contribute to a resource-saving #future while developing new scientific and international skills. Our master student Erich Müller turned a #climateaction hero employee - Warmest ✨☀️ welcome! From April to October 2023, Erich was engaged in a side stream #upcycling project, applying our dear #yeast technology, supervised by Philipp Arbter. It #matched! Right after he graduated from Hochschule Mannheim, Erich joined us! 🙌 Erich: "The studies in industrial biotechnology and bioprocess development gave me the tools to actively contribute to a #sustainable and resource-saving #future. The utilization of residual streams plays a crucial role in this, which is why I dedicated both my bachelor's thesis at RLP AgroScience gGmbH and my master's thesis at COLIPI to this topic. I am excited and proud that I can now continue to work with the wonderful COLIPI team on a better #future and I am very much looking forward to the time ahead!"
