It's #AppReview Monday! 📲 If you're from Germany, you've probably come across ARD Mediathek, a streaming platform from one of Germany's largest public broadcasters. It offers live TV, on-demand content, and a user-friendly interface for a versatile streaming experience. However, with the latest mobile #app update, some users have been facing performance issues. Die wenigsten deutschen Webshops sind #barrierefrei. Warum sind wir hier nicht schon längst weiter? 🤷 Aktion Mensch e.V. hat mit BITV-Consult, Google, PIA UDG und der Stiftung Pfennigparade diese Woche den zweiten Testbericht zur Barrierefreiheit von Online-Shops in Deutschland veröffentlicht. Das Ergebnis: Es gibt Baustellen. Allein bei der Tastaturbedienbarkeit fallen vier von fünf getesteten Shops durch. Schon letztes Jahr habe ich mit Josefine Kramer für den t3n Magazin-Interview-Podcast zu dem Thema gesprochen. Wir waren uns einig: Viele Anbieter übersehen, dass Barrierefreiheit vor allem bedeutet, dass eine App für ALLE einfacher zugänglich und damit #benutzerfreundlicher wird. Der Testbericht zeigt das mit schönen Zahlen: ❗Für 10 Prozent aller Deutschen ist Barrierefreiheit unerlässlich, um das Internet nutzen zu können. ❗Für 30 Prozent ist sie notwendig, um Angebote im Netz gleichberechtigt nutzen zu können – wegen Sehschwächen und motorischer Einschränkungen, aber auch wegen Sprachbarrieren. ❗Für 100 Prozent aller Nutzer:innen ist Barrierefreiheit hilfreich. Sie sorgt in den meisten Fällen für leichte und intuitive Bedienbarkeit, bessere Lesbarkeit – beispielsweise bei schlechtem Licht – und bessere Verständlichkeit über alle Bevölkerungsgruppen hinweg. Wer mit digitalen Produkten Umsatz macht, ist gut beraten, Barrierefreiheit sicherzustellen – und so nicht nur für #Inklusion, sondern auch für eine deutlich erweiterte Kundenbasis zu sorgen.
