Attracting, motivating and retaining young talent for a career in airfreight and logistics remains a critical challenge. Last week, we had the opportunity to participate in a workshop with HR colleagues from various Lufthansa Group companies to analyze this pressing issue at the premises of our Lufthansa Cargo colleagues. We discussed strategies to make vocational trainings and dual study programs more attractive, as well as effective pre-onboarding initiatives to engage candidates even before they start their training. 💡 One of the key learnings is that factors like international work opportunities, comprehensive benefits, and an inspiring global environment continue to be highly attractive to young talent within Group companies, including CB Customs Broker. For Generation Z, transparent hiring practices, pre- and onboarding processes, and clear pathways to permanent employment after training are becoming increasingly important. These topics were all discussed, along with opportunities for closer collaboration in recruiting and retaining young talent across the various business units. 🎓 We have successfully trained freight forwarding trainees, with a focus on customs brokerage, for years. Since 2022, we've also been offering dual study programs. Currently, we have an impressive five trainees and two dual students on our team, and we look forward to welcoming three new trainees this summer. ✅ The workshop gave us valuable ideas on how to make the pre-training period more engaging and appealing for our new trainees, ensuring they arrive fully motivated. The 2025 application process for trainees will reopen in September, at which time new positions will be posted on our website. Quo Vadis, ATLAS IMPOST?   The ATLAS IMPOST procedure, launched in 2022, has been a great success. For 2023, German customs reported 55.5 million declarations using the new procedure. With the rapid growth of eCommerce, this new module has become a critical tool for managing the surge in small consignments, providing a streamlined, automated solution that benefits both businesses and customs authorities.   CB Customs Broker was the first customs company in Germany to be certified for the IMPOST procedure. The need for smooth and fast clearance of cross-border eCommerce goods became apparent in 2020 when online shopping skyrocketed during the pandemic. In response, CB Customs Broker developed its own software to make it easier for its customs agents to clear the large volumes of eCommerce shipments.   "Since 2020, we have continued to refine our software and immediately sought ATLAS IMPOST certification when the German customs authorities introduced the new module in 2022. As a result, we have seen a steady increase in ATLAS IMPOST declarations. We are positive that the great success of ATLAS IMPOST will further accelerate the digitization of all customs procedures. A behind-the-scenes look at our first charter operations in the eCommerce Terminal. ✈ One week ago we started our first charter operations in CargoCity South at Frankfurt Airport. A CB Customs Broker team consisting of Operations, IT and eCommerce experts were on site to receive the first incoming shipments and make sure everything was running smoothly. Starting this month, 260.000 shipments will be digitally cleared and processed weekly in our eCommerce Terminal! 🎉 Since its establishment in 2023, the 20,000 square meter terminal at Airport Frankfurt has proven to be a great success. This month, our handling partner, GEORGI GROUP and we are excited to welcome our first charter business, which was placed through our sister company, heyworld GmbH. Since May 3, three weekly charters deliver eCommerce goods to the eCommerce Terminal. At the terminal, the shipments are sorted and scanned at parcel level and directly customs cleared using our Atlas Impost certified software.
