Bosch Research serves as the central hub for innovation within Bosch.     We are excited to share that our consortium of the publicly funded project “photiomics” gathered on September 25th in Hannover to showcase cutting-edge research and development project work. The consortium, which includes our collaboration partners Zellkraftwerk GmbH/Canopy Biosciences/Bruker Group, RAYLYTIC Software GmbH, the Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institut für Klinische Pharmakologie, and the project management VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH is at the forefront of revolutionizing personalized drug therapy of cancer. Jointly with our partners, Bosch Research is on a mission to personalize medications before cancer treatment even begins, and our groundbreaking work involves studying the impact of different drugs on living tumor tissue obtained from cancer patients in a developed tumor bioreactor. 🧫 The partners presented advancements in tumor tissue cultivation, immunofluorescence staining, 3D microscopy, and AI-based image analysis methods. The meeting also featured a successful demonstration of a functional sample of a tumor bioreactor with a 3D microscopy system, and collaborative discussions on next steps.     I am Ralph Lange, and I lead the robotics portfolio at Bosch Research. Together with my team, we are focusing on mobile robotics and shopfloor handling, particularly optimizing material flow from logistics hubs to the point of use and back. Our work predominantly contributes to Bosch Rexroth products and software solutions and drives innovation in this exciting field. 🤖 I’ve led several projects on core software topics like navigation, real-time systems, microcontrollers, and decision-making, and coordinated our open-source contributions to ROS. In May 2023, I was entrusted with leading the robotics research division - a privilege that allows me to collaborate with top-tier robotics experts from Bosch locations worldwide.     We are proud to announce that our Bosch Research Senior Project Manager, Wolfgang Fischer, participated in the IPCEI-CIS panel of DigitalX 2024 - Europe's leading cross-industry digitalization initiative 🚀 During the panel, he and the project partners from SAP, Siemens and Deutsche Telekom presented their projects within the European IPCEI-CIS initiative followed by a question and discussion session. IPCEI-CIS aims to develop an energy-efficient and cost-effective edge/cloud continuum for real-time-critical software functionalities with reliable low latencies and safety/security mechanism. The project also focuses on 5G communications and the transition to NearEdge for real-time-critical control functions, with Deutsche Telekom serving as a key example. "Overcoming this challenge is a top priority for us, and we are working closely with all our project partners to achieve this goal," concluded Wolfgang Fischer in his speech. #BoschResearch #DigitalX2024 #DigitalTransformation #IPCEICIS #5Gconnectivity

    We are excited to share that the international Advisory Board of the Bosch Health Campus (BHC) gathered at the Bosch Research Campus in Renningen, Germany on September 19th and 20th, 2024. 💫 The purpose? To witness the close collaboration between BHC and Bosch Research to untap full potential of medical technology innovation. 🤝 During the event, our Bosch experts showcased their current Research activities and products. Notably, Bosch CEO Stefan Hartung also took part in a stimulating panel discussion.     𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲! Every great achievement starts with a vision – and a dedicated team. Within the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action funded project “SDM4FZI - Software-defined Manufacturing (SDM) for the Automotive and Supplier Industry” Bosch Research combined both. The aim of software-defined manufacturing is to enable cost-effective production despite volatile markets – a crucial topic for the future, which the funding program KoPa4Mobility and the Project Management Agency VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH enabled all partners in the project to pursue.   💡At the Stuttgart Innovation Days on 17 and 18 September 2024, the team from Bosch Research presented its results.   🔹 Bosch Research project leader Dr.-Ing. Johannes Fisel alongside with Michael Neubauer from ISW University of Stuttgart gave significant insights and objectives of the project, talked about hurdles they had to overcome and the lessons they’ve learned. In addition, they reported on the solutions they were able to develop within the project: examples included a reference model as a blueprint for digital twins and a virtualized control technology that allows machine control to be shifted from the control cabinet to the edge cloud. 🔹 The leader of the activity Software-defined Factory Operations Benedikt Feldotto (Bosch Research) talked specifically about the results of the work package within the project that the Bosch Research team was entrusted with: versatile production systems through SDM. He presented industrial examples like the research Bosch demonstrator from ARENA2036.     We are thrilled to announce that the work of Marius W. and Martin Schöpf on “AI-based condition monitoring in industrial grinding technology” has been awarded the Best Paper Award at the 3rd Swiss Grinding Symposium in Zurich, Switzerland. The symposium was hosted by inspire AG, a strategic partner of the ETH Zürich. Their research focuses on quality and process monitoring in industrial grinding processes at Bosch, utilizing cutting-edge machine learning methods. The paper introduces a production-ready system for AI-based condition monitoring of grinding and dressing processes, demonstrating its practical application in automotive production. Additional features the publication the development towards hybrid modeling using data- & physic-based approaches. Marius Winter, as the product owner of research activities for the development and optimization of grinding processes using machine learning methods, developed a system to predict the quality status of components immediately after grinding. 💯   #BoschResearch #MachineLearning #Award #IndustrialTechnology #GrindingInnovation

    Hey, my name is Nadine 👩🏼🎓 I recently finished the PreMaster's Program at Bosch Research. After completing my bachelor's degree in communication design, I quickly realized that I wanted to go one step further and dive into the strategy behind communication. That's why I joined Bosch Research's PreMaster's program in communication. Not only did I have the opportunity to gain a full year of work experience in a corporate environment, but I also started my master's degree with the option of staying on at Bosch Research as a working student. Since the start of my journey at Bosch Research, three years went by incredibly fast. First, I started to work on design and photographic topics while I got to know the team and got used to the procedures. Then, little by little, my field of activity grew as I started to work on marketing and editorial topics as well. From first insights to being active in whole projects - I was able to look into fields that were still unknown to me and gain experiences hands on.
