🌟 #DigitalBayern #KI #Innovation #RCAI #KIRegionalzentrum #Zukunftstechnologie Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg

Incredible news for municipalities! Today marks a significant milestone in digital governance as München Digital announces the open-source release of their MUCGPT LLM (large language model) interface. By making MUCGPT open source, Munich is setting a precedent for digital innovation in public administration. Municipalities can now customize and integrate MUCGPT into their existing systems, improve their responsiveness and service quality, and reduce operational costs by automating routine tasks. MUCGPT is a cost-effective and privacy friendly interface for AI-driven language processing that was designed to enhance communication within municipal administrations as well as between government entities and citizens. It can for example automate responses to citizen inquiries, assist in drafting documents and official communications, provide multilingual support, and streamline internal processes by quickly summarizing and extracting relevant information from large documents. MUCGPT already serves over 4,500 users, showcasing its effectiveness and popularity. The developers of MUCGPT, the KI Competence Center, part of the InnovationLab of the state capital Munich, are dedicated to integrating AI into public services. They aim to harness the potential of artificial intelligence to improve decision-making, optimize workflows, and enhance service delivery in the public sector. We are proud to have them in our Bavarian AI ecosystem! Explore the full potential of MUCGPT and join us in shaping the future of digital governance: https://lnkd.in/dtZuE9A7 #openSource #ai #digitalGovernment #MUCGPT #baiosphere

Two down, three more to go in our Munich AI Lectures summer sprint! Last week, Ludovic Righetti from New York University highlighted the innovative integration of Model-Predictive Control (MPC) and Reinforcement Learning (RL) in robotics. He explained how MPC offers precise control while RL provides adaptability, creating a robust framework for complex robotic tasks. Combining these approaches can overcome individual limitations and enhance robotic motion and manipulation. Prof. Righetti also emphasized interdisciplinary openness and ethical considerations for AI and robotics researchers. Yesterday, Ivan Laptev from MBZUAI (Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence) discussed the evolution and current challenges in image and video recognition. He highlighted how human pose estimation and object recognition have become standard, yet image recognition software can miss context if queried incorrectly. Prof. Laptev introduced ViViDex, a framework for teaching robots precise hand movements using human videos. ViViDex involves three steps: extracting human movements, teaching robots through these movements, and refining their skills using video data. This research significantly advances robotic capabilities for complex tasks. These lectures underscore the need to view robotics and AI from diverse perspectives, combining insights from various researchers and disciplines to make meaningful progress. We are excited to see what Alexei (A.) Efros will add to the conversation in his highlight lecture ‘We are (still?) not giving data enough credit’ on July 17th - Sign up now! https://lnkd.in/eFH5iNJU #AI #computerVision #robotics #munichAILectures #baiosphere

Exploring Bavaria's cutting-edge computing infrastructure and its role in AI 🔎 🔹 €55 Million Boost for Computing Power With a €55 million investment from the Bavarian State Government, the computational resources at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) and Erlangen National High Performance Computing Center (NHR@FAU) Center are being significantly upgraded. This addition of state-of-the-art GPUs will enhance processing capabilities, enabling more complex AI experiments, and accelerating breakthroughs across various scientific disciplines. 🔹 SuperMUC-NG: Powering AI Excellence Bavaria is home to Germany's second most powerful supercomputer with 26.9 PetaFlop/s, SuperMUC-NG, located in Garching. It is soon to be joined by its younger ‘twin’, SuperMUC-NG2. This infrastructure supports complex AI applications of various Bavarian research instututions, driving innovations across various sectors from healthcare to autonomous driving. 🔹 Expansion of State Data Centers Adding to the existing network of seven state-run data centres across all of Bavaria, a new facility is being constructed in Marktschwaben. This expansion is crucial for supporting the growing computing demands of the public sector. The new centre will provide vital infrastructure for governmental applications, ensuring that Bavaria remains at the forefront of technological application. 🔹 Creating Jobs and Driving Growth Bavaria’s compute infrastructure is a catalyst for both scientific and economic growth. 20,000 people have worked in Bavarian computing centres in 2022, and due to advantageous environmental conditions like the low chance of extreme weather events and good economic outlooks, the sector is expecting continued expansion. By prioritizing advanced infrastructure, Bavaria is not only boosting its technological capabilities but also strengthening its economic and strategic position in the global AI landscape!
