How Can We Master the Transformation to Software-Defined Vehicles? 🚗💡 At the 28th Automotive Electronics Congress, Christoph Hartung, President of Cross-Domain Computing Solutions at Bosch, addressed the burning question: "How can we master the transformation to software-defined vehicles?" Here are the most crucial takeaways from his keynote, shedding light on the future of automotive technology. Let's dive into the key points and spark a discussion on the future of our industry! 🛠️✨ What are the Biggest Challenges? Hartung identified the high complexity of systems, rising costs, and the need for customer-centric solutions as the primary hurdles. The industry is at a crossroads where it must transition from a project-centered to a product-centered mindset. This shift will require open, modular, and scalable hardware and software solutions, with a critical need to decouple hardware from software. Hartung emphasized, "We need to rethink our business models and revenue streams," urging the industry to embrace open collaboration environments and standardization. Why is Collaboration Key? "No one can master the complexity alone," Hartung stated, highlighting the importance of collaboration with non-automotive partners. The rapid advancements in generative AI and large language models (LLM) present new opportunities, particularly in driver assistance systems and automated driving functions. Bosch is already forging partnerships to not only navigate this transformation but to lead it. Such collaborations are essential to harness the full potential of these technological advances. What are the Critical Technology Areas? To successfully transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs), Hartung pinpointed several key areas: Modular, decoupled, and scalable hardware and software solutions. The transition from hierarchical project designs to user-centric and product-oriented networks. Standardization of high-performance computing and the seamless integration of software into existing systems. Exploration of new concepts such as chiplets to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. What Does the Future Hold? The future of vehicles will be defined by their software-based functions and update capabilities. Bosch is at the forefront, working on reducing the complexity of vehicle electronics and exploring the use of generative AI for automated driving solutions. "We are only at the beginning of this journey," Hartung noted. The path forward requires rethinking leadership models and operational strategies to thrive in the software-defined era. #AutomotiveInnovation #SoftwareDefinedVehicles #Bosch #AEK_live #FutureOfMobility

Ah, the good old days. At this point we want to take a little trip down memory lane and go back 10 years. It's 2014: Germany wins the World Cup, Facebook buys WhatsApp, and support for Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 ends. Meanwhile, connectivity was the focus of the 18th Automobil-Elektronik Kongress in Ludwigsburg - then called 'Fortschritte in der Automobilelektronik'. Speakers from IBM, Nuance Communications, HARMAN International, Volkswagen, XS EMBEDDED LLC and Brilliance looked at the topic from many different angles, from specialist service providers to Tier 2 and Tier 1 through to OEMs. Bosch CEO Volkmar denner presented current topics in automotive electronics, including the integration of consumer electronics.  Ricky Hudi from AUDI AG showed innovative technologies in the new A8, while Ralf Lenninger from Continental presented new customer functions through cross-domain networks. Dr. Joachim Fetzer from SB LiMotive Germany GmbH presented a 4-stage concept for safe lithium-ion cells, and Yamaguchi JJ from Renesas Electronics spoke about the merger of Renesas and NEC Corporation. Helmut Matschi from Continental discussed the future of infotainment and Dr Michael Würtenberger from BMW Group spoke about new business models in infotainment. Cooperation and future visions for e-mobility were highlighted by Prof. Dr.Ing.Herbert Kohler from #Daimler and Patrick Bastard from Renault Group. In addition, representatives from Volkswagen and Daimler presented advances in power electronics and charging standards. We rummaged through the archives and found these pictures. Perhaps you will find yourself there?

How is Electronics Transforming the Automotive Industry? 🌟 What Role Does Electronics Play in the Automotive Industry? In the fast-evolving automotive world, electronics and AI are driving major advancements. Aart de Geus from Synopsys Inc highlighted these technologies at the 28th Automobil-Elektronik Congress in Ludwigsburg. 🚗🔧 Why Are Silicon and Software the Driving Forces? The electronics industry is driven by silicon and software. Silicon forms the physical basis, while software provides functionality. "Innovation happens at their intersection," says Aart de Geus. Moore's Law historically improved computing power and efficiency. Today, AI enhances this development, creating new opportunities in the automotive industry. 🌐💡 How Will AI Affect the Automotive Industry? AI significantly impacts the automotive industry by enhancing simulation and analysis capabilities. These technologies make developing and optimizing complex designs more efficient. "AI is transforming everything," notes de Geus. In vehicle development, AI simulates entire vehicle systems and analyzes vast data, making development faster, more accurate, and cost-effective. 🤖🚘 What Role Does EDA Play in This Transformation? Electronic Design Automation (EDA) automates chip design processes, enabling efficient development of complex systems through modeling, simulation, and optimization. "EDA speeds up the design process and improves accuracy," explains de Geus. These tools are crucial to meet rising demands for computing power and efficiency, particularly with AI and advanced automotive applications. ⚙️🔍 Why Are Multi-Die Designs Important? Multi-die designs enhance chip performance and efficiency. The tight packing of multiple chips results in higher density and faster data transfer. "Multi-die designs are revolutionizing chip architecture," says de Geus. This technology allows for faster, more energy-efficient complex tasks, essential for automotive industry demands. 🔋🚀 What Are the Challenges in Modern Electronic Design? A major challenge in modern electronic design, especially with 3D chips, is effective thermal management. Without proper cooling, chips can overheat, affecting performance and lifespan. "Heat is the enemy of the next 20 years," says de Geus. Advanced simulation tools and AI optimizations are crucial for analyzing thermal loads and developing appropriate cooling measures, balancing cost and complexity. 🌡️❄️ 📅 Save the Date: The 29th International Automobil-Elektronik Kongress (AEK) will be held on June 24-25, 2025, in Ludwigsburg. At Automobil-Elektronik Kongress we asked participants what topics they would like to see at AEK 2025. We would like to repeat this survey with you. Unfortunately LinkedIn only allows 4 answers. The 5th option is "Electromobility". If you would like to see this topic, just comment "E".  Also, they can only be 30 characters long, which is why "homologation" is missing from answer D. If you would like to see a topic missing from the list, please leave a comment. #AEK_live #FutureOfMobility
