Flexa will connect and manage decentralized renewable energy systems using an AI-driven electricity trading platform. In a few years, it will provide more power than a nuclear plant, delivering several #gigawatts of electricity. Flexa’s virtual power plant will optimize the generation, storage, and consumption of electricity, helping homeowners save money and earn extra income. 💡#BESS Models: Fully #Merchant, #Tolling Agreement and #Floor price🔋 At Entrix we believe that the right commercial model can make all the difference in the successful deployment and operation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Understanding these models is key to maximizing the potential of your assets in line with your very own return preferences. Let's break down the three archetypes out there: 1️⃣ Fully Merchant: ▪️ Maximizes returns whilst keeping costs low ▪️ Asset owners participate fully in the upside and the downside of the market. The performance of the optimizer is crucial here! 2️⃣ Tolling Agreement: ▪️Provides maximum safety whilst foregoing the opportunity to participate in upsides ▪️Asset owners only receive a fixed payment irrespective of the eventual market environment. This payment is typically lower than the expected “merchant” case would have been 3️⃣ Floor Price: ▪️ Aimed at balancing participation in the merchant upside whilst at the same time providing minimum revenues - oftentimes at high costs, though ▪️Asset owners typically fully participate in the upside and receive a guaranteed minimum payment - the so-called floor ⚡These models are designed to cater to different risk appetites while providing the flexibility needed to navigate the dynamic energy markets. We believe that batteries yield particularly strong business cases when they include a large merchant component. That’s why we at Entrix offer fully merchant models and floors.
