The Web3 community is gathering for a conference in Berlin, and we’re opening the doors of w3.hub to everyone who wants to work from here. After a brief summer break, the appetite for exchange and connection is strong again. It’s wonderful to see everyone returning to Berlin, especially as the Web3 Summit takes place from Monday to Wednesday at the beautiful Funkhaus. Our Co-Founder, Vicktoria Klich, alongside Tamar 天马 Menteshashvili from Solana Foundation and Marta Piekarska-Geater from FIDL: Filecoin Incentive Design Labs, discussed building developer communities. Key Takeaways: 👀 The right incentives are not always monetary. Loyal community members are born from openness and a sense of belonging. The community arm of Solana (Superteam Germany) excels at this. 👋🏽 The w3 ecosystem acts as a platform and support system, combining maximum value from events, content, and connections. The best example is w3.hub—a physical space always open to the thinkers of the scene. Superteam Germany, for example, is organizing the co-working Fridays here, where anyone can participate. 🥷🏽 The challenge remains to bring people out of their silos and connect them with other communities (different blockchain ecosystems or even Web2 companies). We transformed 500 square meters into a community space. You can experience it yourself during our next Open House Days: After weeks of hard work and a few events in between, we hosted our first Community Brunch on the 4th floor yesterday. 🪄 There are now many more comfortable seating areas, which were well-occupied during our recent Checkout Drinks event. Our friends from Mast-Jägermeister SE collaborated with us to create the ambiance. They have been involved as house partners with w3.hub since the very early days and we are happy to bring this space to the Web3 community together. 🍾 So far, the drinks have always been a joyful highlight at our events. 🐵 The Cardano Community especially liked it and even gifted the Jägermeister Hape a T-shirt (Shoutout Cardano Foundation & NMKR). As you may have seen, we have an arcade machine, table tennis, and a PS5, all free for everyone to use. 🫶🏽 To everyone who hasn’t experienced it yet: the Community Space is open to our members and those who want to become one. Every community is welcome - that’s the promise of w3.hub! Last week, we hosted the first Cardano Hackathon in Germany. The love from you was incredible 💚. The organizing team at NMKR had w3.hub lit up in neon green, and there were plenty of hidden gems to discover. 🧑🎨 In front of the entrance was a canvas featuring the hackathon’s art piece. 🏆 There were three different tracks (challenges for the hackers) with $10,000 at stake for each winner. The teams had 24 hours to prepare their pitches. The results were then presented in 2-minute pitches. The hackers were well looked after, with cool drinks, delicious food, massages, and sleeping options ⛺ (you guessed it: the tents are back). 💡 Conclusion: People in the Web3 bubble say “Cardano is dead.” Well, this event proved the opposite: Over 120 people participated in the Cardano Hackathon 2024.
