AIRMO is working on the intersection of climate tech and space, developing a novel solution for emissions measurement. Our goal is to set a standard for continuous, global and near-real time greenhouse gas emissions measurement using small satellite constellation and novel LiDAR technology. We have developed a micro-LiDAR solution to complement spectrometer-based measurements to significantly improve the accuracy and sensitivity of CO2 and CH4 measurements and are currently working on the product development. We are a VC and European Space Agency backed startup with the goal to become the global leader in emissions monitoring.

    🛰 How AIRMO's technology powers the precision of Satellites and Drones 🛩 At AIRMO, our emissions tracking is powered by a combination of multi-sensor technology, enabling high-precision monitoring and delivering the accuracy industries need to meet environmental standards. 1️⃣ LiDAR System: The LiDAR system consists of two subsystems: a transmitter and a receiver: The transmitter emits a laser signal directed towards the Earth's surface, precisely controlled by a Precision Timing Mechanism. The receiver captures reflections of laser emissions that originate from the atmosphere and surface. The receiving subsystem is highly precise in detecting photons. 2️⃣  SWIR Spectrometer: Measures the intensity of light across a spectrum of wavelengths. The module is designed to gather measurements in the SWIR region, decoding the composition of the Earth's atmosphere for CH4 and CO2 bands. 3️⃣  RGB Camera: This camera captures high-resolution visuals, provides geolocation, and adds critical context to our data through cloud detection. With high revisit rates, they deliver frequent updates to keep emissions data current. 🔹 Drones, meanwhile, offer high-precision, localized data, adapting to specific environments and reaching areas that satellites can’t. This flexibility allows for detailed real-time insights that drive immediate action. Together, they create a powerful solution. By combining broad satellite monitoring with detailed drone analysis, we can provide highly accurate data both on a large scale and at pinpointed locations. At AIRMO, we use this dual approach to help industries stay compliant with regulations and develop effective mitigation strategies.     🌍 Let's recap the new EU methane emissions regulation. 🌍 The European Commission introduced a new regulation (EU 2024/1787) in May 2024 to reduce methane emissions in the energy sector. This is a huge leap forward for climate goals, as part of the European Green Deal and the EU Methane Strategy. The aim of the regulation is to reduce methane emissions, improve the air quality and position the EU as a leader in the fight against climate change. Under the new rules, fossil fuel industries must measure, monitor, and reduce methane emissions, with a ban on avoidable flaring. Since Europe imports much of its energy, these regulations extend globally, pushing exporters to meet the same high standards. This regulation underscores the urgency of addressing methane emissions, aiming to achieve reductions soon after its enactment.
