Through AFRIKA KOMMT!, many of our partner companies have successfully expanded their footprint in Africa - establishing new offices, increasing sales reach, and implementing strategic market entry plans based on the valuable insights contributed by our fellows and alumni. How much can happen within only two and a half weeks 😅 🌪? Well, let us tell you: 🌍 A meeting between our AK!12 cohort with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH Regional directors for African countries – an inspiring and fruitful lunch exchange for both sides that has become a good tradition within the last years which we look forward to continuing next year! Thank you so much to all GIZ colleagues involved, especially Friederike von Stieglitz, Matthias Rompel, Angelika Friedrich, Juergen Dierlmaier, Judith Helfmann-Hundack, Ella Schieber, Sandra Lehmann and Jonas Neef. ⚖ Another wonderful Mindfulness-Training over two days for our AK!12 fellows, for which Ilka Wiskemann and Tina Berggren from SAP are taking extra time and put their heart and power in it. We are really grateful for this and our fellows for sure even more! Thank you also, Scandic Hotels Frankfurt Hafenpark for providing the perfect atmosphere and surrounding for these intense days. 💻 And last but not least: We did it again 🙃! Our virtual assessment center for the 13th AFRIKA KOMMT! cohort (start in Germany: November 2024) has taken place over the last two weeks. A summary in numbers? 👔 150 candidates 🎤 150 interviews with approximately 70 assessors in different team combinations 👩💻 150 Change Initiative presentations 🧠 30 group exercises 🔈 To all company assessors from BioNTech SE, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bosch, B. Braun Gruppe, Merck Gruppe, ODDO BHF, SAP and Siemens Healthineers, to all candidates and the team that made sure that everything runs smoothly between different cities all over Africa and Germany - and to our Alumni Ima Hackh, Juliana Busasi, Andalia Maureen, Stella Namuganza, Natasha Moetsabi, Joseph Omidosu, Ph.D, PMP, Naomi Kiptoo and Angora Aman, who presented their AK! experiences : A big heartfelt thank you for your time, patience and the good mood that accompanied those days! 🔈To all assessment center candidates: Congratulations on your participation and great presentations! We will communicate the final results latest until the end of August – and we will keep our fingers crossed for you all!

Update – AFRIKA KOMMT!13 application process Selection Process for the Assessment Center for AFRIKA KOMMT! 2024-2026 completed All Invitation emails will have been sent out by Monday, June 17th Thank you very much for your patience within the last weeks and months. Our partner companies had – again – a tough time making the final decision for the assessment center participants due to the exceptionally high number and quality of applications. By Monday, 17. June 2024, the candidates selected for the assessment center will have been invited via email. Those not selected will also be informed via email. Therefore, please keep a close eye on your e-mail inboxes and spam folders on Monday! The upcoming dates and events for the AK!13 application process are: ➡️ 24.6. – 5.7.2024: The VIRTUAL assessment center. Each invited candidate will participate for two consecutive days within this two week window. ➡️ End of July 2024: Final decision & invitation of successful candidates to participate in the 13th intake of AFRIKA KOMMT! What a reunion at the #AFRIKAKOMMT! refresher course in Nairobi today! Time has flown since our 10th AK! intake said goodbye in Berlin in October 2022. Today, 44 Alumni came together again for their one-week refresher course. It is part of our subsequent long-term alumni work with all cohorts – and usually takes place for each group about one year after the end of their stay in Germany. Jennifer Kaloki from Bosch and Hardeep Sound from SAP welcomed our group this morning from the partner companies side – thank you so much for taking the time and passing over your spirit and thoughts to our Alumni! The next four days will not just be about looking back at the time since the AK! graduation in Berlin. The refresher course is all about "Adaptive Leadership" and how to overcome immunity to change to bring transformation into your life. Thank you, KONU, for the upcoming training days already! Also, we owe a huge thank you to GIZ Kenya and the team behind Bodo Immink for once again supporting us so well in organizing the course. The next few days will also hold an exchange with the German Ambassador in Kenya, Sebastian Groth and a nice farewell day and dinner for our alumni! Update – AFRIKA KOMMT!13 application process All 8.918 applications have been read and you have blown our minds! What an impressive insight into the high professional generation of that continent! A shortlist with about 30 candidates for each profile has been sent to our partner companies. They will review these shortlists within the next weeks and make their final decision on invitations to the assessment center. A FEW INSIGHTS ON THE APPLICATION FIGURES? ↗️ For AK!13 now, we had about 71% more applications than in the previous year for AK!12 (5.193). 📊 Of this year's applicants, 65% were male and 35% female. 🌍 Most of the applicants came from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Ethiopia. Fortunately, the number of applications from the following countries has increased: Algeria, Lybia, Zambia, Morroco, Egypt and Nigeria. WHAT WILL BE THE NEXT STEPS? ➡️ By mid/end of May, the candidates selected for the assessment center will be invited via email. Those not selected will also be informed via email. So keep a close eye on your e-mail inboxes and spam folders over the next few weeks! #LIKEABOSCH – this is how all our 42 Fellows from the 12th #AFRIKAKOMMT! cohort feel today and will feel tomorrow! Every year, our partner company Bosch GmbH, invites current fellows to Ludwigsburg, a city close to Stuttgart. For two days, our top tiers from all over Africa get to know one of Germanys biggest companies, its technology solutions for mobility, home, industry and trades that are renown worldwide. Thank you to Luisa Brandt, Lennart de Vet, Christian Zaehringer and Lisa Maader not only for the warm welcome and hospitality – but also for the insights into this traditional and yet futuristic company. The inspiration from UX Coach and Design Thinker Bastian Zwissler, PhD and the food for thought on global megatrends by Dr. Andrej Heinke from Bosch Research made a great impression and will be remembered by everyone. Looking forward to a second day tomorrow surrounded by the Schwäbisch culture and the next Bosch Study tour!

🏃♂️🏃♀️⏱ Are you one of our “last minute” applicants and still wondering how to write your perfect application for the 13th AFRIKA KOMMT! intake (don’t worry, you are not the only one 😉). In that case, maybe our FAQ video about the application process will help you and clarify some last questions. The most important hints from our side for a good application: 🎯 Be precise and focus on the expertise that you bring for the profile. ↔ Keep it short (or at least as short as we ask you for in certain parts of the application). ✨ Demonstrate your professionalism in your application already: Underline your expertise with a good application structure and a nice design of your ppt slides that makes it easy to read.
