Game Changer für die Waldwirtschaft @ #FutureForestForum2024 – Der digitale Zwilling des Waldes als Wegbereiter des Waldbaus von morgen? 🌱 Die #Digitalisierung hat längst in unseren Alltag gefunden. Auch die Waldwirtschaft verändert sie bereits grundlegend – und ermöglicht so nicht nur ein besseres Management (Effizienzsteigerungen), sondern auch bessere und nachhaltigere Waldbausysteme (Effektivitätssteigerung). Damit bietet sie die Chance ein Türöffner für neue Umwelt-Märkte zu sein und so neue bio-ökonomische Geschäftsmodelle zwischen #Waldwirtschaft und #Industrie zu ermöglichen. Main Keynote @ #FutureForestForum2024 – Green Investments as Key-Enabler for the Forest-Based Economy? 🌱💡 The programme planning for the upcoming Future Forest Forum is in full swing. Time for first insights into its highlights! Kickstarting this year’s forum, our high-level keynote with Janna Ensthaler will shed light on the topic of green investments and their role for pioneering a forest-based economy. Subsequently, we will focus on the questions of why investments in nature-based solutions are increasing, which solutions are of particular interest to the financial world and what opportunities this brings for the sustainable management of ecosystems. Specifically, we look at examples of how we can develop the forestry industry into a pioneer for the transformation of our economy, with a particular focus on the chemical industry. In this regard, the enormous importance of start-ups and other innovative players for paving the way towards a more sustainable future with new business models for the forestry industry will be examined. 🌿 Celebrating the International Day for Biodiversity! 🌍 Today, as we reflect on the importance of biodiversity in our ecosystems, we want to highlight the invaluable richness found within our European forests. 🌲 European forests are not just vast expanses of greenery; they are complex ecosystems teeming with life, with each species playing a crucial role in maintaining the delicate balance of nature. From the towering trees to the smallest insects, every component contributes to the diversity that makes these forests thrive. 🐾 Did you know that European forests are home to over 80,000 species of animals, plants, and fungi? This astounding biodiversity not only provides habitat for countless species but also offers essential ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, water purification, and soil stability. 🌴 European forests contain 85 different habitat types protected by the EU Habitats Directive. These range from specific areas like the Apennine beech forests and the palm tree groves of Crete to widespread beech and coniferous forests in central and northern Europe. 🌳 European forests are home to about 200 tree species, including common ones such as beech, oak, pine, spruce, and fir. 🦉 As stewards of our planet, it is our responsibility to protect and preserve these invaluable ecosystems. Through sustainable forest management practices, conservation efforts, and promoting awareness, we can ensure that future generations continue to benefit from the beauty and biodiversity of our forests.
