Terms and Conditions of Use for District Data
These terms and conditions apply only to data, as the term “data” is understood under the US Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 101 et seq., available from the District of Columbia (District) Data Catalog. Data means non-copyrightable information such as facts, figures, map coordinates, etc., that have not been manipulated in some manner to be intellectual property subject to copyright law. It does not apply to any other web content or data that is publicly available, or that appears in any other location on the dc.gov website.
Modification of the Agreement
The District reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions of Use for District Data and may do so by posting notice of such modifications on this page. Any modification is effective immediately upon posting, unless otherwise stated. Your continued use of the Sites following the posting of any modification signifies your acceptance of any and all modifications. You should periodically visit this page to review the current Terms and Conditions of Use for District Data.
Conduct
You agree to access and use the Sites only for lawful purposes.
Copyright
Unless otherwise noted, the data on the Sites is public domain and made available with a Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal dedication. In short, the District waives all rights to the data worldwide under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights, to the extent allowed by law. You can copy, modify, distribute, and perform the data, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. The District makes no warranties about the data, and disclaims liability for all uses of the data, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

The DC.Gov logo (the stars and bars and the word, DC.Gov) and all other District government logos, including agency logos, that appear on this site are official logos of the District of Columbia (District logos) that are not subject to the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal designation. The District logos may not be used to indicate any endorsement, sponsorship, legal or other affiliation. Any use or reuse of the District logos requires prior written permission from the District of Columbia. For more information, please contact the District’s web team. However, use of the stars and bars alone is permitted without prior permission.

Policy on Spamming
You specifically agree that you will not utilize email addresses obtained by using the Sites to transmit the same or substantially similar unsolicited message to 10 or more recipients in a single day, or 20 or more emails in a single week (consecutive 7-day period), unless doing so is necessary for legitimate business purposes. The District, in its sole discretion, will identify violations of the limitations on email usage set forth in these Terms and Conditions of Use. Violations may result in your removal from registered areas, denial of support or services, or other consequences, at the sole discretion of the District.
Disclaimer of Warranty
You expressly understand and agree that your use of the Sites, or any material available through these Sites, is at your own risk. Neither the District nor its employees warrant that the Sites will be uninterrupted, problem-free, free of omissions, free of errors or viruses; nor do they make any warranty as to the results that may be obtained from the use of the Sites or that the information contained on these Sites is accurate or reliable. The content and function of the Sites are provided to you "as is," without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties of title, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or use, or currency. The District of Columbia Open Government Advisory Group is charged with making recommendations to the Mayor to further lessen restrictions on these Sites and implement appropriate controls on any restricted data.
