We are pleased to announce that the Dopravní podnik města Brna, a.s. will expand its fleet by another 20 new two-way Škoda 45T trams. These modern low-floor air-conditioned trams will be in service starting in 2026 and will slowly replace the oldest KT8 trams. Miloš Havránek, Director General of DPMB, explained the usability of the new trams: "The two-way trams have a wide range of uses in Brno, especially on line number 8, but also during closures and restrictions." The investment in 20 trams amounts to CZK 1.5 billion. DPMB plans to finance this acquisition from its resources or co-finance it with EU funds or subsidies. Thus, the Brno City Transport Company will fully use the framework contract and acquire 40 vehicles of this type till 2026. Tomáš Ignačák from Škoda Group emphasised that the trams are Škoda 45T: "Our commitment to our passengers is unwavering, and the comfort of our drivers and overall safety is our priority, ensuring a pleasant and safe ride for all." We look forward to welcoming the new trams to Brno and contributing to modern, comfortable urban transport.

We're thrilled to share some fantastic news: our tram, Škoda ForCity Smart Bonn, was recognised with the Red Dot Design Award in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024. It's truly a big moment for us, as this tram was recognised for its unique visual identity and state-of-the-art safety features, explicitly designed for Bonn, Germany. And what the jury said about the tram? “The ForCity Smart Bonn offers comfort to passengers with different needs, fitting well into the cityscape thanks to its exterior design.” The modern design of our ForCity Smart Bonn tram harmoniously blends with the city's historic vibe. Its distinctive light shaping on the black mask and upholstered wooden seats, designed for easy maintenance and longevity, are just a few of its standout features. The driver's cab, developed in collaboration with local drivers, meets the highest ergonomic and safety standards. “Our people have worked hard to ensure that every detail of the vehicle enhances the travel experience, not only in terms of its engineering but also in the way it fits in with Bonn's unique identity. And to be recognised with this award proves that we have succeeded," commented Laurent Fromont, our Senior Vice President Rolling Stock & Service Platforms. #SkodaGroup #RedDotAward #ForCitySmartBonn #DesignExcellence #ProudMoment #EngineeringSuccess #Safety
