What is the cost of #truth in 2024? According to numbers provided by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), since the beginning of 2024, 47 #journalists and #media professionals have been murdered while 575 remain in #detention across the globe. According to the UNESCO observatory of killed journalists, in nine out of ten cases the killers go unpunished. What does this impunity lead to? A dwindling #democracy. We have witnessed this trend over the course of close to three decades of working with independent media around the world. The United Nations backed International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists is a reminder to all of us to aspire for accountability of establishments that commit crimes against journalists.
